NYC quartet the Dig makes brooding guitar rock with '90s teeth and a Naughties bite. The foursome rolls into this decade with some new music and a couple nice tours — singer-guitarist David Baldwin and mates Emile Mosseri (bass/vocals), Erick Eiser (guitar/keys) and Jamie Alegre (drums) scored a slot opening a slew of dates for U.K. rockers Editors . The Dig isn't on the Editors' show Thursday at the Wiltern, so the band lined up gig at Club NME at Spaceland on Wednesday. ||| Download: "Two Sisters in Love" [...]
With the Gorillaz album around the corner I thought I'd republish this Editors post that we did way back in March when we were only little. I think this acoustic version does the song a lot of justice. Firstly because it's so far from the original and also because I'm a massive fan of Tom's dark and moody vocals. It's also nice how they incorporated a bit of their own stuff at the end. Editors -- Feel Good Inc -- download Download audio file (Editors [...]

Today, I fly out to Honolulu to see my brother. While I'm out there I'll be seeing Andrew Bird at the Pipeline Cafe and trying to see what kind of music scene #50 has to offer. I'll be checking in from time to time but don't expect that much updates. If you're in the Bay Area this week though, check out Daedelus , Nosaj Thing , and Jogger at the Mighty tonight, St. Vincent and Wildbirds & Peacedrums at at the Great American Music Hall and Editors [...]

Frank Yang Editors have been garnering their share of mediocre reviews for their latest effort In This Light And On This Evening , largely for abandoning their tried-and-tested anthemic post-punk guitar rock for something decidedly synthier - I seem to be more favourably inclined to the record than most, but can certainly see where the criticism comes from. My bigger concern with the record, however, lies in how it will translate live. For all their faults, Editors are one of the more dynamic [...]
You won't have been able to sleep last night, with Gordon's announcement yesterday that he had some "amazing new technology which I'll be revealing". Whatever could it be? Wonder no longer : First, find the JLS video pane on my website. Then hold the star up to your webcam, as demonstrated by my colleague Lia Nicholls. If the webcam can see the star, a performance of One Shot will start playing. If you remove the star, it will stop. And moving the star in three dimensions moves the lads around [...]

With our profession in constant turmoil these days, it's good to see these dudes have maintained their Editor'ing day jobs (Sorry—too inside baseball?). Seriously though, "Munich" was totally our sad party jam when it/they came out in '05, and now they're teaming up with Tripwire mainstays The Antlers. Dates below. 02.05 Seattle, WA @ Showbox at the Market 02.06 Vancouver, BC @ Commodore Ballroom 02. 08 San Francisco, CA |@ The Warfield Theatre 02.09 San Diego, CA |@ House of Blues 02.11 Los Angeles, CA @ The Wiltern 02.13 Denver, CO @ Ogden [...]
Editors visitó el show de Jonathan Ross y tocó "You Don't Know Love". Marina & The Diamonds visitó el Virgin Red Room y realizó, además de una performance, una entrevista muy interesante. Ryan Bingham tocó "The Weary Kind" en Sirius.

The Control Group Sadness is Sarah Assbring's stock in trade, a point I've rather drilled home in my reviews of her output as El Perro Del Mar - the 2007 self-title and 2008's From The Valley To The Stars . While both records were beautiful in their downbeat demeanor, you couldn't help but hope that Assbring would find a way to cheer up, if only for her own emotional well-being. Unfortunately for Assbring - but fortunately for her listeners - delectable heartache [...]

Editors - In This Light And On This Evening Last month, Editors released In This Light And On This Evening in the US (it came out last year in the UK), and this month they're touching down on our shores to play a 12 city tour. They'll be at Terminal 5 on Feb 19 ( Buy Tickets ) showcasing their new Flood produced record and apparently they are quite excited about playing the new [...]

So far I've been making post about new bands, cover and acoustic versions, mixtapes... So how about posting some remixes as well? I knew you would agree :-) Today's offerings come from Editors , Placebo , The XX , and SCNDL . I don't think that the first three names need any introduction; as for SCNDL... Well, they come from dark streets of Manhattan's west side. Reminiscent and inspired by old Chicago House from the likes of Master C&J, their track Need To Know comes backed up with a devastating set [...]

Jannica Honey It's probably over-pedantic to point out that by the time Frightened Rabbit's third album, the marvelously-titled The Winter Of Mixed Drinks , is released on March 9, there'll be only 12 days left in Winter. Certainly enough time for a a righteous bender or four with it as a soundtrack, but before you know it we'll be into a Springtime of body shots and that just doesn't sound quite as epically melancholic, though possibly more fun. Even so, the Scottish quintet will be doing their best [...]
