We Are Scientists - It's A Hit "You know before I could've sworn that we were friends But that's how these problems always seem to end" I need to go back to posting important lyrics from songs. Anyways. So I like to think I am open to hearing any type of music once. And I do listen to a lot of different types, but just sometimes I can't get myself to admit I like something, or want to check it out, or just for some reason I just feel like I wanna steer [...]
Considering it was only ever a spin-off from Sounds, you'd have to be a curmudgeon to not applaud Kerrang for reaching its 30th birthday. That's nine years more than Sounds managed, you'll note. At the same time as it edges into its fourth decade, the title is getting a new editor, Gamesmaster's James McMahon . James used to write for NME, where he had spells looking after new bands and features; he's returning to his first love to take over the big green eyeshade at Kerrang from Nicola Browne. -- [...]
Blogophilia refers to the series of mixes that were developed from promotional mp3s found on different music blogs. As we've grown, we've come to rely less on other blogs and more on what we're sent that we review or feature. We receive a lot of requests to repost old Blogophilia mixes, and have to kindly refuse because of space issues. Well, that's going to change. This summer, we'll feature 2-3 Blogophilia posts a week until we're current. If you've followed this site, you'll know we already maintain links [...]

Well, it's that time of year ago. With the summer almost upon (it's already hot enough), Consequence of Sound is seeking some new talent in the following areas: - Consequence of Sound interns : Ideal candidates should have a vast knowledge of the music industry, an ability to write multiple types of feature stories (news, reviews, etc.), a familiarity with social networking applications, and an availability during the daytime hours. - Cluster 1 interns: Ideal candidates should have a vast knowledge of the music industry [...]
Check out the latest single, "Joshua" from electro band The Japanese Popstars (who are neither Japanese or popstars, btw). The single features vocals from Tom Smith from The Editors, which was a really nice touch to the song, I might add. The single is due to drop on June 13th, with the upcoming album, Controlling Your Allegiance dropping on June 20th. The album is said to have collaborations with other artists in addition to Tom Smith, including: Robert Smith , Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Green Velvet and psych folk [...]
![[New Kid On The Block] Welcome to Elizabeth, a new contributor to Loudersoft.](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3415521_lg.jpg)
Anyone who knows me (meaning EJ) knows that as the editor & publisher of this site since 2005, I have been a solo operation for the most part. I have searched high and low for new contributors to what I do around here & at long last, I've found someone whose voice and whose passion for music matches my own. Welcome, then, Elizabeth to the Loudersoft family of contributors. I feel confident that her contributions will bring you hours and hours of listening and reading enjoyment. - EJ [...]
![[Listen Up] – Listen Before You Buy Is Hiring](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3397769_lg.jpg)
Tweet And by hiring I mean I need people to contribute for nothing! Even though it seems like I'm always "hiring" (it's non-paying just in case you're wondering) I was in good shape and not taking on any new contributors, but unfortunately I had one flake on me and the other, long-time Editor Matt , is leaving to concentrate on awesome things happening in his personal life. Good luck, bud! So that means that there's now a position available as an Editor as well [...]

Korn and dubstep? Hell yeah! Add some heavy wobbling sounds courtesy of Skrillex on top of thrashy guitars, sprinkle them with Jonathan's vocals and you have a winner. As for the remaining tracks, Pendulum return with yet another massive tune, New Order go drum and bass, and Editors are paired up with INXS in a stunning mashup.Enjoy! Korn feat. Editors Picks time again; though much like an ironed flump there is a subtle twist to proceedings this week, as we have drafted in some fresh meat; for Hector Barley has joined the ranks as Editor of New Music on The 405. I've spent the last week trying to put together a playlist of music that would soothe the symptoms of Hayfever. After hours of tinkering with songs, I realised [...]
Nichola Browne, who has been editor of Kerrang! for 18 months, is stepping down and leaving Bauer altogether . Her editorship has been a pretty good time for K! - in the middle of 2009, it was selling 43,253 copies and a couple of thousand ahead of NME; by last month, Kerrang! was selling 44,013 - not a massive rise, but the gap with NME is now about 10,000, showing how well the title is doing compared with the market as a whole. -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, [...]
Editors give an explosive performance at the Royal Albert Hall to raise money in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Lead singer Tom Smith said: "We've been picking through the archive recently, looking back at our 3 records, many many b-sides and some material that has never seen the light of day. It's been addictive. We can't leave it alone, much like picking a scab, and we've decided to package it all together and share it with our fans, officially. We've raided the vaults, searched through old CD-Rs, cassettes and photo albums and gathered it all together. We'd like you to have this music [...]
You know when you listen to a new band, you - or at least I - can't but to help comparing them to someone who I have listened to before. Hearing similarities. Hearing influences. listening to this album What Did you Expect From the Vaccines?, I have not heard such a mix before now. When [...] Continue..

It's been seven days since last Tuesday, and thus it's time to explore some picks from our Editors, and where you can read what our Editors are picking. We call it 'Editors Picks'. This last week has been glorious due to SXSW. I wasn't there but because everyone else was, I had less work to do. Hurrah! I did get mightily jealous once I started to watch the live streams on [...]

It's been a week already? Woah. Read on to see what has been on our minds in the last 168 hours, music and culture wise that is. You probably don't want to know what actually has been on our minds. It wouldn't be pretty. This week I've mostly been listening to Team Me in preparation for their appearance at Surf Wax tomorrow ( here [...]
