Last week was wayyyyyy better for me because I only worked Wednesay - Friday. That was lots of fun, but anyways here's some bits to get you through the rest of your week aswell. Stereogum on new Mars Volta album I heard about this, and well Frances the Mute didn't grab my attention all that much. De-Loused in the Comatorium is the way to go. OR you could go way back to their beginnings, At the Drive In. [...]

I've been seeing more and more covers popping up everywhere, so I figured I'd pitch in my own 10 likes, in no particular order: My Bloody Valentine - Map Ref 41º N 93º W (Wire Cover) Editors - French Disko (Stereolab Cover) The Futureheads - Let's Dance (David Bowie Cover) Blitz - Vicious (Lou Reed Cover) Supergrass - Some Girls Are Bigger [...]
New Clipse: Good song, fun video, way, way, way too much Pharrell rapping.
Would somebody please give CBS 3 medical reporter Stephanie Stahl a pair of tickets to the next Making Time? See, baby girl has just discovered a little bevarage called Sparks. What's more, she's convinced they're a threat to our collective safety, and has made them the focus of her most recent "Health Alert" segment. It's a distinction reserved for only the most severe and insidious of health risks, placing caffeinated alcohol in the same gruesome cadre of cold-blooded killers as improperly washed fruit or any sunblock with an SPF less than 300...

In honor of it being America's Independence Day (and the fact that it is right smack dab in the middle of the summer) I thought I would throw up some pretty good remixes to celebrate the day and dance the summer night away. After all, weren't the founders of the nation just master political remixers? (Ohhh, maybe that was a bit of a stretch, or a bit too cheesy, so I'll just go ahead and post the music now...) Annie | Heartbeat (Röyksopp's Mindre Tilgjengelige Remix) Blues Explosion | [...]

another pseudo holiday, another motherfucker party. i'm definitely headed to this one, as dave p and tim sweeny , two of nyc's finest vinyl-slingers, will be throwing down in the side room all night. there is also the prospect of a "secret band" performing at 11:30. i've heard rumors of it being either the editors or the futureheads . alls i know is that i'm still kicking myself for not going when bloc party performed, as it was an apparently amazing show. [...]

There is simply no way to discuss Editors without mentioning the band's uncanny resemblance to legendary post-punkers Joy Division in terms of vocals and music, if not lyrical themes. Don't let the suggestion that Editors is a Joy Division tribute band turn you away from checking out their debut album, The Back Room . If you are a fan of Joy Division, then you'll appreciate the Ian Curtis-ish vocals of Tom Smith as well as the dark gothscapes that the band creates while still sending you through 11 hook filled, danceable tracks. Comparisons to Interpol are apt as well. [...]

You still need to go the way of the import in order to get your hands on Editors' debut album The Back Room , a BM Rant favorite. So much so that Brian and I will make the 90 mile trek to NYC to see them at Webster Hall on March 30th. Tickets are still available , and I highly recommend getting their album when you can purchase it as a US release on Fader Magazine's label. Editors performed 7 songs and talked to KCRW's Nic Harcourt on Morning Becomes Eclectic on January [...]
Editors = Rad. Seriously, I'm hooked. They are playing in two weeks in a couple places around Los Angeles (check my upcoming in side bar) Four dudes from the United Kingdom making good music. They remind me a bit of Interpol, She Wants Revenge, and well but it's faster and better sounding to me at the moment. Really like em so give these songs some listen love. Make sure to listen to all their songs on myspace too! They also have some vids. Editors: [...]
