I admire people like Toby who stick to genuine singles for their year end lists, but I can't do it. It's harder and harder to know what it means anyway. The Fresh & Onlys made a fancy video for "Waterfall" but didn't release it as 7" -- is it still a single? (It's not on list anyway, but another of theirs is.) I don't worry about it, clearly, as my #1 was an album cut. An AWESOME album cut. I do still feel singles are meant to be ephemeral. If I'm not listening to some of these tracks [...]
Edwyn Collins is the former singer/frontman of Orange Juice. He released his 7th album, Losing Sleep , this year. One of the albums singles, "Do It Again" just had a music video released. It features Alex Kapranos and Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand. It's no secret that Orange Juice probably influenced Franz Ferdinand, so the features are more than appropriate. Loving both the single and the video. Watch it below: Bookmark on Delicious Digg [...]
Kieran Evans on ohjannut tyylikkään, retrohenkisen Edwyn Collinsin kappaleeseen Do It Again , joka löytyy Collinsin tänä vuonna ilmestyneeltä seitsemänneltä soololevyltä Losing Sleep . Videolla on mukana biisin säveltämisessäkin mukana ollut Franz Ferdinand-kaksikko Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgIjWq -Qhzs

As you may know, Edwyn Collins' Losing Sleep album is one of my favorites of the year . So I'm happy to see they've done a new video for the second single off the album, “Do It Again.” And no, it's not the one by Steely Dan. The song, and the video itself (directed by Kieran Evans), features guest appearances from Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy of Franz Ferdinand, as well as Sex Pistol Paul Cook. Buy Edwyn Collins music.

The latest single release from out favourite brother Edwyn Collins is a collaboration with Franz Ferdinand collective Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy. (As we're pretty sure you learned about here .... Just saying) Anyway, check out the video below, and be sure to buy Edwyns fantastic 'Losing Sleep' album here

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Franz Ferdinand made a surprise return to UK live music scene on Saturday night, Dec. 11, at the Belle and Sebastian -curated All Tomorrow's Parties Bowlie 2 festival. The Glasgow-based quartet's appearance at Butlins in Minehead was only revealed on the day, although rumours they would be playing had circulated online, the NME reports. For singer Alex Kapranos and guitarist [...]
This is never easy for me, but at least I got this together ahead of time year. And in case you're thinking "who gives a crap?", don't worry...I'm under no delusions about anyone wondering what I loved this year (and if you visit regularly you'll know), but I like running it here as a matter of record. In no particular order, and with no further ado: 01. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings - I Learned The Hard Way (Daptone) (CD, MP3, vinyl) [...]

I can't believe a whole year has already passed since last year's edition. This time last year E and I were still living in Athens, and we flew here (Barcelona) to attend Primavera Club 2009. That was our very first Primavera ( Club or Sound ), and now here we are, living in the city, going to what is already our third (Primavera Sound 2010 was the second)! Good times indeed. I know the festival appears to have a pretty low profile (internationally at least), and even many visitors to PS Sound don't even [...]

By Keith Shackleton They were different, Orange Juice . They drew their energy from punk, but little else. As Edwyn Collins explained, "... it was to bring back a ’60s sensibility. To have the freneticism and tempo of punk rock but to have rhythm guitars that were influenced by Live 1969 and ... Nile Rodgers ." Their music, infused with wry wit and a sense of humor, was a reaction against the bleak angst of profoundly serious post-punk bands like Joy Division and Siouxsie and the Banshees. [...]

Falling and Laughing: The Restoration of Edwyn Collins by Grace Maxwell My rating: 4 of 5 stars First time author Grace Maxwell - as well as co-star, manager, and wife of musician Edwyn Collins, the book's main subject (not to mention mother to their son, William) - has written an entirely compelling book about Edwyn's 2005 stroke, and the journey their family was forced to take as a result. Her description of the initial part of the ordeal reads like a fast suspense movie. I couldn't put it down even though [...]

Picture this scene: a dimly-lit bar with a wide variety of liquor lined up alongside its oak walls, the multitude of bottles casting a refraction on the dozen or so guests in the room. A grand piano sits on a small, elevated stage, several feet from your comfortable red silk-laden table. Those around you are [...]
