Photography by ephelides melanophore I miss Clem Snide. Fortunately, we still got Eef Barzelay, eh? Though I'm not sure how to pronounce "Eef", now "Clem Snide"? No problem... In face, I don't think I've ever heard anyway say "Eef" outloud. Is it long-e or is it more long-i? Well, regardless, his second solo release, self-titled (well, that will get people to have to figure out his name) quietly leaked (at least, I think it's a leak, though I can't find a release date to save my life), and [...]

Oh baby, welcome back to MOKB's weekly recap of all that was in the NFL. We'll cross-reference with some indie tunes as usual. I'll try not to burn out in Week 13 or 14 like I did last year. I've been training and eating better, so I feel good about it. New Orleans 10 at Indianapolis 41 What a way to kick it all off! OK, I'm partial to the Colts of course, but how good did they look?! I mean, the defense was equally [...]
I couldn't think of what to post, so I had my wife pick songs. Better post next week. --- Leonard Nimoy - "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" Old 97s - "Designs on You" Billy Bragg and Wilco - "California Stars" Eef Barzelay - "I Wasn't Really Drunk"
Off The Record is a recurring, feature here on the Drunkard that will marry two of my greatest interests; music and travel. Having a locals perspective when visiting a new locale is the difference between experiencing it through the lens of a tourist and of that of a native. Off The Record gathers some of [...]

Since the legendary Spring Fling concert is coming up in three days we thought it would just prime to take some time to go moonlighting with the three main attractions. To start off, there's Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide. I know a number of folks out there aren't thrilled about this choice to open at the 'cert, but I happen to think that with a little magic in the air things could rock like a cradle. With lyrics like, " if a Civil War buff can [...]
As far as Song, by Toad is concerned, there is only one Hot Babe Emily Scott and that is the lovely purveyor of gentle folk tunes found here . However, according to the vast tribe of Hot Babe Action Internet Perverts, one of whose number I am usually proud to confess to being, there is another Hot Babe Emily Scott and she is an Australian tits-oot-fae-the-lads 'glamour' model. (For glamour, of course, read mildly titillating and somehow able to make the subtle distinction between hand-shandy grot rag material with a little bit of thong bikini on and [...]

Eef Barzelay is pretty easily listed among the most uniquely-named musicians alive. What is Eef short for anyway? And equally puzzling is the name of his full band/alter ego Clem Snide. Just weird-sounding in general. Go figure, there's something just as unique about this singer/songwriter's music. It's warbly and delicate, beautiful and honest. He's got this playful way about him that will either make you smile or make you nod your head furiously in agreement with his views on love and life. He's opening for a little-known pianist/balladier named Ben Folds on his college tour 3/24-4/14 including a [...]
#10 - Electric President - S/T ( Morr Music ) Probabilmente, senza il loro passaggio in Italia, nemmeno me li sarei ricordati. Probabilmente, rispolverandoli e perdendo il concerto, sarebbero tra i primi cinque. Sicuramente, un ottimo disco Mp3: Snow On Dead Neighborhoods "ELECTRIC PRESIDENT" review on INDIE FOR BUNNIES [...]
It's a bit early this year, but I wanted to get started on my end of the year music lists so that I wouldn't obsess and ruminate over them endlessly and wind up posting them in January when 1) it will be impossible not to be influenced at least somewhat by everyone else's lists and 2) all of you will be so sick of year-end lists anyway. Also, December gets quite busy for me very soon - between work, life, and having a baby due next month, there won't be a whole lot of free time left for making these [...]

Here's wishing all my readers a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday. Eat up, drink up, be merry. Oh wait, that's wrong, don't be merry for another month. And don't drink too much. Or eat too much. In fact, just calmly sit there and watch television. Or better yet, read a book. Ah fuck it, do whatever the hell you want. At least a-hole Jeter didn't win MVP. I need a drink. Oh and I'd like to add a special thanks to the person who was the subject of [...]
Earlier this year, Eef Barzelay -- songwriter and lead vocalist of indie-country outfit Clem Snide-- delivered his solid, solo debut Bitter Honey. Now Eef is hitting the road to support that record with a slew of solo dates, culminating in...
Arcade Fire - "My Heart is an Apple". People talk about their favourite songs. Tonight I feel more like asking this favourite song what it says about me. What's locked in those lyrics. What's behind the paper apple stuck to Win's guitar. "My Heart is an Apple" starts with apology, homesickness, confusion. These twists of language that mean one thing and then the reverse. Just so much yearning. And then Win goes outside. The bridge of "My Heart is an Apple" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I know. Here it's birds and trees, shoreline and splash, [...]
Clem Snide frontman Eef Barzelay is hitting the road again on a string of solo tour dates. Check him out and download a live MP3 which is from a Clem Snide live CD that you can only get at one of his shows! MP3: Eef Barzelay - Fill Me With Your ...
Hat-tip to Brooklyn Vegan for posting on Eef Barlazey's upcoming solo tour dates. Unfortunately I'll be missing Mr. Clem Snide in favor of some crosstown Smog (I just saw Eef this spring, making this tough call easier) but I can't say enough about his solo live show. He's got such a rich, interesting voice and wraps it around increasingly touching but ever-ironic tunes - his live solo rendition

You know how it is: when one song gets praised by some of the bigger music blogs and then suddenly every music blog in the universe picks it up and it spreads like wildfire...until the next great song comes along. Here's some tracks that have gotten a lot of attention in 2006-some are fresh, others are from the beginning of the year, so you might not remember them. But either way, the blogosphere is so gonna beat you up for being a nerd if you haven't heard all of these tracks. If you feel like I've missed something that [...]
Excited, no? If you've not already passed out from the awesome prospect of 24 hours of non-stop music posting, then make your way over to the Blogathon site and get to donating. For the second post, having exhausted the few brain cells summer has left me, I've decided to share my current favorite tracks. Keep in mind that not all of them are brand new, and that if played in order they don't
