Nifkin teams up with his Sweden native friend, Hedener to give That's Deck a first listen exclusive of their debut collaborative track, 'Shivari'. The drowning industrial tune takes path on the road not taken. A dark eerie shadow that lurks like a reflection underwater. No foreground nor background. Just sharp-edged in between noises that rock back and forth. Frustrating and confusing yet exhilarating and intoxicating. Download and listen to, 'Shivari', below... Mount Eerie has two LPs planned for this year: Ocean Roar and May 22nd's Clear Moon . You can stream 'Lone Bell', the latest preview from Clear Moon , below, and take a listen to 'House Shape' over at Pitchfork . The albums are set to be released on Phil Elverum's own label, P.W. Elverum and Sun .
A haunting stop-motion video has been released to accompany the Moonface track "Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips." The video fits the songs lyrics and melody well, featuring many empty and desolate locales. Using static backgrounds the stop emotion effect makes these still images still feel lively by having an object moving through them along with heavy use of blur and after image. There is a great use of filters as much of the beautiful scenery is made to look darker and hold some more significant meaning. Look for Heartbreaking Bravery April 17th or listen to the full album at The A.V [...]

The Eeries released their debut 7-inch, Comes Alive , last summer after a few self-released tapes. Comes Alive finds the local garage rock trio doing what they do best, which is creating classic '60s pop songs while staying true to their DIY garage roots. And if you head down to the Level Room tonight, you can catch their free love era influenced jams as part of a six band-bill that include other must-know local outfits including Black Actor and Honey Radar . We're serious when we say this should be a sweaty, awesome sonic [...]

I don't just write about solo female artists, HONEST. You know the jist with this one though, here's Kyla La Grange's new video for 'Vampire Smile'. Kyla's known for her ethereal performances; often preparing barefoot, with wild hair and sometimes with glitter streaked across her cheeks. This video is just that, it is eerie and well, vampiric, it is stunning. Happy Monday. Do catch Kyla live on tour this Spring: 29 Feb - Cafe Drummonds, Aberdeen (supporting Dog is Dead) 1 Mar - Ironworks room 2, Inverness (supporting Dog Is [...]

First time I listened to this I got so hyped. See, I had some sort of a brain fart and thought that XV, Wiz Khalifa & Figure got together to make a legit dubstep // hip hop collab (overlooked the "remix"). Well, even though this is just a remix, it's a damn good one at that. Sill not topping my favorite Khalifa remix , but I'd love to see Khalifa & XV go in the dubstep direction. XV ft. Wiz Khalifa - Gobstopper (Figure Remix) [...]

A couple of beats from Polish producer Graf Cratedigger. Some eerie vibes and dope drums for you to lend your ears to. Check his summer release here . As for 12-Mic, well, I can't understand what he's saying but flow is universal right? Graf Cratedigger: Facebook • Blog • Soundcloud • Twitter 12-Mic: Soundcloud ~lork [...]
A bit of lo-fi joy from the new Nerve City Sleepwalker EP . Streaming above is the EP's title track, and it's a haunting bit of lo-fi rock. The song's lyrics-which bring up imagery of staring eyes, dark rooms, and sleeplessness-get enhanced by the recording quality, making it more haunting than it could have been with a "proper" recording. Grab this EP on Sacred Bones .

This isn't Figure's best Halloween remake this year, that'd go to his Beetlejuice Dubstep Mix , but damn does this bring me back. "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is my faaaavorite Halloween movie, that and "Young Frankenstein," and it's interesting to hear a dubstep take on the movies' theme song. Dubstep really was made for such goolish jams like this! What's your favorite Halloween movie? Figure - This is Halloween Figure Genre: Bass Heavy Music [...]

Oh man! does this bring back memories. And what a quality dubmix to put it all together. Figure has done just what I like in a dubstep remix, sticked to the original tune and made it all the more devilish. A perfect treat just in time for Halloween season! So, this video is my odd introduction to the female singer-songwriter duo Tasseomancy, which was formerly known as Ghost Bees. The two members of this project are sisters Romy and Sari Lightman. They're twins, actually. The duo's latest album, Ulalume , will the the first to be released since the name change. It's dropping tomorrow via Out of This Spark. The video above features the album track "Heavy Sleep," which is pretty haunting both sonically and visually. Of course, it's no surprise that Taylor Kirk and Simon Trottier of Timber Timbre had a hand [...]
In a world full of trouble, people like the chance to focus on something positive - so, even though they're all royal and all the baggage that comes with that, there are still a lot of people around the world who are interested, even excited, by the royal wedding next Friday of Prince William and [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Echoing distant exotic ochestral de chambre.

A few weeks ago , I posted a laid-back track by a Philadelphia garage band named The Eeries. The song was submitted to Noise Narcs' "Minute Music" (our sans context, sans comment category) because, frankly, there just wasn't much to find out about them online. I could have said more about the music, of course, like that The Eeries write early-60s inspired garage pop with infectious melodies and pitch-perfect yet seemingly effortless harmonies. The tempo is usually lazy, the lyrics are occasionally morbid. But beyond that I could only direct you to their blog , [...]

Here's some more scruffy 21st century doo wop that'd make Del Shannon lull and roll in his grave, gently. We recently covered an EP by The Eeries, and those played out some garage-minded mirages just as lazily and effortlessly, though it all rested on a slightly thinner down comforter than these warm, light-hearted dazes. The Eeries, "In Your Head" The Eeries, "Pocket" The Eeries, "Walk You Home"

Not enough perfectly lazy garage pop has graced my ears this summer, so The Eeries are a slow moving gust of musty old wind that came just in time to warm this chilly atmosphere. The July heat waves are over, so let's hear it for The Eeries. The trio's from Philly and sound like the kind of backyard stool philosophers who'd get along fine with Queens pigeons the Beets or Ritchie Valens' zombie spirit, or a sizzurp'd Monster Mash block party since they're called The Eeries and have some album...

My favourite band Stars have released a film clip to their latest single Fixed off of the soon to be released The Five Ghosts which you can order in all varieties bar holographic mug from their store (as a side note Stars always have made great band shirts and the eerie set they have for this album is no exception). As for this track I can't say it's their best, but it is easy to listen to and I think that's what you want for the first single off [...]

Douglas Martin derives most of his sonic inspiration from The Bicuspids. In the Internet era, where everything you ever needed to know about a band is a few clicks away, it's almost refreshing that there's very little information available on The Eeries . Here's what we know: They're a trio, they're from Philadelphia, and they list The Beatles, Cult Ritual, and The Teeth as influences. It's not that they're trying to cultivate an air of mystique; their music carries the same jangle and shuffle as a band like Dr. Dog and is just [...]

Gray skies again, GOD IT'S KILLING ME. Have some Alec Empire treat from his 2009 mixtape Rauschgold: Alec Empire Plays Staubgold , this is the Schwabinggrad Ballett dub mix. Ghostly. Schwabingradd Ballett - Ice Bertolt Brecht (A.E Dub)
