One of the many projects of Erik Nava, A.K.A. DJ Egadz & the man behind Matterhorn, Satellites takes Mr. Nava's already established electronic talent and gives it a new direction. Ghost is an interesting fusion of hip-hop and indie, at some points sounding like an instrumental version of The Postal Service, and at others, an up-beat dish of atmospheric electronica and dubstep that is too messy for its own good. The best part of Satellites' premier album is that never hits that oppressive, bass-thumping point that generally makes me shut off my music. No silly and [...]

satellites - "psychicato" (download) Download: 19360776-3a5.mp3 Producer Erik Nava is back under another pseudonym. Nava is best known for his project under the name Egadz , but has [...]

man mantis - "sea ambulance" (download) This brand new EP from Madison, WI producer Man Mantis has been in heavy rotation this week in my headphones. Sea Ambulance features five songs, plus a remix from DJ Pain 1 (not to be confused with Bomarr Blog superhomie DJ Pain . If you're into dark, heavy beats along the lines of Edison , Egadz etc, you'll love this. I can't get enough of [...]

We're going to get one thing straight. I love Themselves. Like, seriously, they are incredible. Dose One is an absolute genius and Jel is a god with that drum machine. He was probably one of the most talented men to ever touch that machine. That was until Egadz. I'm not going to bother you by re-writing all his details, I'll just quote them: Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Egadz is a hip hop artist who makes his beats and music with an electronic edge. Originally starting as a hip-hop DJ nearly ten [...]

edison - "or had you forgotten" (download) As I mentioned last week , San Francisco beatmaker Edison just dropped his brand new record People Are Bad Animals via Kid Without Radio . If you're not up on this guy, you're missing out. He really has an ear for drums, as you can hear in the opening track from the record, included here. You can buy the record right here.
BRAND NEW Edison video for the track " Artemis vs. The City" from his upcoming record for Kid Without Radio , People Are Bad Animals . The video was recorded in one shot, and made with no loops. Even the lights were triggered via Midi by his monome lunchboxes. This dude is seriously one of my favorite beat-oriented producers right now. He's a super rad guy, and he's extremely talented. The record will be available everywhere next Tuesday, February 8th, but right now, you can pick it up early and EXCLUSIVELY through the Kid [...]

On February 8th, the Bay Area producer Edison will release his latest effort People Are Bad Animals through Kids Without Radio , the label that he and fellow producer Egadz created. The two streaming tracks below are both off PABA and feature some nice monome beats, drum samples, and huge layers of sound. If you are looking for some other dope examples of beats created by Edison, check out the track "900 Fingers" here . Filed under: LISTEN TO THIS [...]

Oak Lonetree is the ultimate homegrown MC. Never perpetrating, always presenting nothing other than his weeded beer-gut self, the proud Waltham representative drops more discs, group projects, and mixtapes than Kool Keith and Lil Wayne combined. For his last two projects, Oak teamed with Dese from The Camp for a pair of gluttonous offerings as The Dunnas . Now he's back in full swing with longtime wingman Egadz, a sometimes-Boston-based producer who doesn't get nearly enough props for his refreshingly naked (and sometimes epic) boom bap backdrops. As someone whose goal has just been to [...]

You know that feeling when you see something awesome, then afterwards you become obsessed with it and want to be the next big thing in said 'awesome' activity. Yeah, thats how I feel right now. Almost a year ago now some of you may remember - although I doubt you will - I reviewed an album by an artist named Edison . His music was based on a monome beat machine and he co-ran a label called, ' Kids Without Radio '. The other proprietor [...]

There were a few ways to begin this review: some good, some bad, but none quite right. So let's begin with just the facts. Kid Without Radio is a netlabel, notably featuring underground electronic artists such as Egadz and Edison . Battery Collection is the newest artist on Kid Without Radio and his debut LP is titled Future Ruins . Bottom line: Future Ruins is worth your attention if you dig minimalism and you're willing to forgive its rough edges. [...]

red - "i should tell your mama on you (edison's fer whut remix)" (stream-only) I posted the original version Stones Throw classic a while back. Here, San Francisco beatmaker extraordinaire Edison changes up Red 's "I Should Tell Your Mama On You," originally an acapella, and adds some more depth. You can download this for free in exchange for an email address over at the Kid Without Radio Bandcamp page . website
Incredible on both a technical and artistic level, it's actually unbelievable that this is a single-take live shot. From the video description: all one shot sounds... no loops running.... 64 buttons 64 noises.... shot on 2 HD cameras, 720p, 1 live take..... with audio captured right to camera..... From what I gather, Edison is part of a netlabel collective called Kid Without Radio . And honestly, their spacey instrumentalism seems to be exactly what the doctor ordered for these early days of July - particularly this [...]

egadz - "space ghost" (download) Egadz has a brand new 9-song EP out called Knockoff , on which he remixes himself under his standard moniker as well as his new alter-ego Matterhorn . The EP also features a remix from Kid Without Radio artist Upsidedown Astronaut . This EP of Egadz 's signature psychedelic beats will surely have your head nodding, and it can only be purchased digitally, directly through him [...]

edison - "little voices" (download) One of my favorite tracks from All the Information At Hand . Recently released by Kid Without Radio . Edison is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is rapidly becoming a well-known master of the Monome (this particular Monome he created himself, housing it in an old lunchbox). This 11-track release (featuring an excellent remix of "The Bellows" by KWR head [...]
