Krautrock legends (and Germany's biggest music cred namedrop for lazy journalists) Can get an electronic homage today. 1/2 of Cabaret Voltaire, Richard H Kirk turns out a wicked late 80s techno version of I Want More. For posterity I'm also throwing in a version from a Wax Trax! -era Fini Tribe as well as a 90s techno acid cut from Scotland's infamous Ege Bam Yasi . Richard H. Kirk - I Want More [...]

With Soma's big 20th birthday event only a week away, we continue our dig into their archives. Next week we'll have a bumper selection of goodies to get you in the mood for the night at The Arches but today we focus on a track from the Scottish king of the silver box - Ege Bam Yasi . Released in 1994 , it's an amazing bit of 303 goodness from Inverness's finest egg-sport that still works it's magic in 2011. If Ege Bam Yasi is a name that's new to you [...]
Krautrock legends gracefully combine design and performance in this often overlooked classic.

A bit of proper acid house from Scotland's egg-obsessed Ege Bam Yasi. Although I had a summary of his background a month ago , there's no point in doing a proper bio when his own one is so entertaining: "Formed in Stirling, Scotland in late 1984 as a free form eggsperimental one piece playing McAcid House before anyone knew what it was called, fusing many eggclectic influences, including Can, Captain Beefheart, Fad Gadget, and Electro, into a uniquegg style - in retrospect [...]

As Discogs rather aptly puts it "Egg-obsessed MacAcid house artist from Scotland (presumably taking the name from the Can track Ege Bamyasi from 1972). A full "bieggraphy" is available on the official website." For a taste of the puntastic bieggraphy, on his early years he says "Formed in Stirling, Scotland in late 1984 as a free form eggsperimental one piece playing McAcid House before anyone knew what it was called, fusing many eggclectic influences, including Can, Captain Beefheart, Fad Gadget, and Electro, into a uniquegg style - in retrospect a style [...]

As DJs, producers and promoters, this duo was critical in Progressive House's movement from crusty raves to London nightclubs in the early 1990s. The Drum Club's records blend tribal, heavily percussive drum tracks with elements of Dub, Ambient and psychedelia. Post Drum Club, Lol Hammond went on to forge an immensely successful DJ and writing career and is now the proud father of two and Charlie Hall turned to teaching and now spends a third of the year in Italy teaching Art History to English and American students. Big Blood - Vitamin C If, like me, you're a fan of experimental krautrockers Can, you might want to check out this psych-folk cover of 'Vitamin C' from the 1972 album Ege Bamyasi . Big Blood describe themselves as a phantom four piece that perform as a duo, and they have just put out a split release with Visitations on L'animaux Tryst that comes in a combo package of a 73 record and a CD-R of late-night jam sessions "with each record sleeve offset printed with the bands' artwork in [...]
