We've already established that Killer Mike and El-P are cooking up a new batch of dope as a duo called Run The Jewels. Today, we get the first full sampling of the product with the release of "Get It." Also, there's the news that the two will be on the road even more than originally expected so if those "Shoes For Running" dates don't fit the agenda, there's a chance to see them in several other cities. Consider the options. [...]

Earlier in the month, we got a snippet of BFFs El-P and Killer Mike's highly-anticipated collaboration in the form of "Banana Clipper." The duo, known together as Run The Jewels, continues to impress by sharing their first single, "Get It," and it's a beast of a track that's guaranteed to kick your lethargic Monday ass. [...]

After swapping assistant services on each of the other's excellent 2012 LPs, El-P and Killer Mike have finally debuted a the first full track as Run The Jewels. The long-awaited compilation piece, which has been talked about for several months now, debuted "Get It," a dark-stormed beat with the two partners trading off hard edge verses. The duo, which debuted a small clip of " Banana Clipper " earlier this month, will be releasing a free album in a few months through Fool's Gold . But for now, [...]

When it comes to our most anticipated projects for the summer, Killer Mike and El-P 's album as Run The Jewels is pretty high on that list. And it just might take the top spot if the rest of the singles sound as monstrous and straight-up dope as "Get It". The boisterous, Bomb Squad-esque banger will appear on their self-titled full-length, which is apparently dropped for free in June. They're also hitting the road together. You can stream the song and peep the tour dates below. Kool A.D. and Despot will serve as support. [ [...]

And now, that unlikely but excellent alliance marches on, as the two guys have formed a duo called Run The Jewels. We already posted a clip of their song " Banana Clipper ," but they're getting ready to release a free online album in a couple of months, and now we get to hear a full song. The track is called "Get It," and it is [...]

Art Direction: Tech Supreme Isn't this a dandy treat for a Hump Day? Longtime friends and current tour mates Big Boi and Killer Mike use their time together to craft a remix to Big's "In The A." Mike's verse finds him playing the role of ghetto tour guide as he steers listeners through the Peach city's infamous zones. Always remember, even though ATL's a player's paradise, things can go from heavenly to hectic with one turn around the wrong corner. Listen below and download the track here . [...]

In February 2010, El-P announced that he was stepping down from his position as the head of Definitive Jux, the label he spawned with Amaechi Uzoigwe back in 1999. It should go without saying that things were vastly different back then, though they certainly weren't any easier. El and Amaechi know that full well, because right from the jump they had to stretch out their label's name from Def Jux to Definitive Jux following legal pressure from Def Jam. Additionally, they watched as some of their contemporaries, most notably Fondle 'Em Records, closed up shop. But it was a [...]

OK I admit it.......I am pandering to my prog rock readers for yet another week with this 1973 behind the scenes ELP TV special. This is great stuff on one of my favorite Prog Rock bands. Keith Emerson on keyboards and the angelic voice of Greg Lake always make me happy. I hope they make you happy this Monday as well......
It was 6:30 a.m. on a Friday. Any self-respecting human being should have been hitting snooze, squeezing nine more blissful minutes of sleep before building the courage to get out of bed and put in the last eight hours that stand between them and the criminally insufficient 64 hours of free time before they slump back into their desk chair. But self-respecting humans are in short supply here. Instead of the shrill blaring of an alarm clock, I was being woken by Don Ricardo, the godfather of Coachella trips, handing out Jager bombs to the poor souls in my tent. [...]

Today's Monday Music Matinee post, Prog Rock Britannia, goes out to Sara, the biggest prog rock fan of all of this blog's readers. Here is how this well done documentary is described on the BBC website.... Documentary about progressive music and the generation of bands that were involved, from the international success stories of Yes, Genesis, ELP, King Crimson and Jethro Tull to the trials and tribulations of lesser-known bands such as Caravan and Egg. The film is structured in three parts, charting the birth, rise and decline of a movement famed for complex [...]

Killer Mike and El-P are making it awesomely clear that we'll be hearing new material from them sooner rather than later. We already kind of knew that following the preview of " Banana Clipper " off their upcoming album as Run The Jewels. But now we're getting another kind of promo by way of a hilarious interview with Pitchfork. It's part of their Over/Under series in which the two rap pals discuss whether or not Hulk Hogan, God, fatherhood, camping, and the dog moose are overrated or underrated. Absolutely ridiculous. There was something in the water around the turn of the millennium. This week we look back at the best independent hip-hop albums released between 2000 and 2004. The idea for this column...
Before we get into Saturday, let's not bury the day's big lede: R. Kelly joined Phoenix on stage to perform his biggest crossover that isn't from the Space Jam soundtrack, "Ignition (Remix)." Not quite the Daft Punk cameo folks rumored, definitely worthy of its own post. Which is here . Earlier in Day 1, in the space I will affectionately call EDM Town - where the electronic music tent is located - it was hard not to feel like we had been transported to another festival. Everything was a little more neon, everyone [...]

El-P produced two of last year's best rap albums: His own Cancer For Cure and Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music . El and Mike are good friends and frequent collaborators, so the team-up didn't end there. They've now formed a duo called Run The Jewels, and they're working on an album together, one both of them have been teasing forever. And now El has posted an 84-second clip of a track called "Banana Clipper," and oh my god this thing is a monster . If the idea of an [...]
