A proper playlist plays in dreams, sends the mind wondering and helps you wake up with a song in your head. Since I can remember I have played music while going to bed - some times a CD, other times a playlist from my favorites list. In the end, the music tempers the soul and in the case of a sleep playlist, it needs certain elements. The key to a sleep playlist is in the eye of the creator, so in my case it starts with a story and ends with a song of longing. This formula works [...]

Pandreas | Soundcloud Pandreas | Facebook

Radical Face are streaming a prequel EP, The Bastards: Volume One , to warm you up for the release of their full-length The Roots: Family Tree , due out 10/4/2011. Think Electric President , but less…electric. So, President…but less political. Whatever, don’t think, just listen. Very natural, chill, and soothing. Give each track your full attention. These songs are subtle and need time that is definitely worth investing. We don’t want to pick a favorite track before you listen, but “We’re On Our Way” does include hand claps, just sayin’… [...]

En Youtube bruger kaldte dette nummer for “the dark side of mr Hopkins.”

And so, another year marches to a close - another fantastic, adventure-filled, technicolor year. It's the time when all of us start kicking around our neatly-bulleted lists of bests and worsts. For me, the more I read these lists, the more I feel that I missed more albums and artists than I heard this year. The stats are staggering: in 2002, about 33,000 albums were released. In 2006 that number was 75,000. Last year close to 100,000 albums were released, with only roughly 800 of those albums selling more than 5K. It's tough out [...]

Radical Face is the moniker held by Ben Cooper, the solo project from one half of Electric President . This project is blends a sound familiar in that band, but with fewer electronics and more orchestration along the lines of eclectic orchestral groups Efterklang and Anathallo, mixed with a little Michael Nau (Page France, Cotton Jones). "Doorways" is similarly melodic and features an off-beat piano. The song is off the band's latest release, a beautifully crafted, six-song EP called Touch The Sky . [...]

Photography by ME ! Well oh well oh well... here we are, once again. at the "end" of another exciting and fun and musically awesome year! What? You don't think this was a "good year for music"? You know what we always say about that right? If you ain't finding music your digging, you ain't digging deep enough. With the sheer (shear?) wealth of albums out there, from the label releases to the self-released albums on the bandcamps and blogs [...]
Hi all! Its great having yet another opportunity to catch up with you. We've been keeping busy with music just as we have been with our lives. However, when it does come to music, it's ... Related posts: Indie Halloween Playlist 2008 Indie Halloween Playlist 2009 Villagers Reaching The Airwaves
I've raved before about Ben Cooper. As one half of Electric President, he's crafted wonderfully dark and poignant indie electronic music. Cooper's solo work as Radical Face has always intrigued me, in particular for its simple but powerful instrumentation and ... Continue reading

I’m back! I haven’t written a post for a long long time, but now am up and running with a lovely Mini Mac. So what I was planning on doing today was to try and squeeze a lot of music that I think deserves a listen, into this one post. It’s a easy way for me to include it all in one. But on reflection, it is lazy, and i believe that all of these tracks and artists deserve their own post. So first up, is the track featured in the annoying Nikon advert with smugface Robbie Williams, [...]

Storyteller extraordinaire Ben Cooper has done it again. The musician, songwriter, visual artist and fifty-percent of Electric President released a new digital EP this week under his solo moniker, Radical Face . To be used as a bridge between his 2007 release Ghost and future projects, Touch the Sky reintroduces one to their past. Through thunder and crow cry dappled melodies, this six-song reverie reminds the listener that youth - and the inevitability of losing it - is bittersweet, valuable and worth being reflected upon, even if it does sting a little. [...]

Throwing Snow - Un Vingt I'm taking out all the dying stuff from my head and setting them on fire with Throwing Snow . No really, for me, this sticky track has revitalisation glitched all over it, revitalising just like a Summer usually is. Gonna be honest, we got sent this song (from 2) on the email from some hard-workingly hopeful promoters, I heard it [...]

My Reactions and Experiences with 'Electric President' for company. Have you even heard Ben Cooper's voice? [ EP's lead singer ] A little brittle crack that nasally americanizes his songs; my sister hates it - but I love it. Maybe it's harder for us english people to fall in love with music that accidentally bears a large distinction purely through it's american accent. I remember in the playground when we were all 9, there would be a sizable brutal confrontation between the B link 182 lovers and the B [...]
Some bands find it appropriate to give roots to their musical plurality by releasing music under multiple band names. Ben Cooper of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, have embraced this approach, and it seems that he's unable to stop the flood of songwriting ideas. He writes under three band names: Electric President , Radical Face , and Patients , each project giving different angles to explore songwriting. Earlier this year Ben Cooper and Alex Kane released The Violent Blue under the name of [...]
[ download ] Over the course of two full-lengths and a couple of singles for the excellent German label Morr Music (also see: The Go Find , Seabear , and Lali Puna ), Jacksonville duo Electric President has carved out a little niche in my heart for their electronic-tinged indie-pop arrangements. The band is comprised of Ben Cooper, who has also recorded solo work for Morr under the Radical Face moniker, and Alex Kane. Electric President made their debut in 2006, and released their [...]
Þó aðeins séu liðnir þrír mánuðir af árinu hefur þegar komið út þvílíkt magn af frábærri tónlist erlendis að maður man varla annað eins. Surprisingly enough, even though I find myself becoming wildly jealous every time someone tweets about something exciting that I'm missing in Austin, I really don't regret skipping SXSW this year. I did it three years in a row, and I thought a year off was appropriate for a number of reasons. There ARE a few bands that I'm super bummed I won't have a chance to see this week though, and one of them is Electric President . It's pretty much a given at this point that I will love anything Ben [...]
