Electric President is the Jacksonville, Florida musical duo of Ben Cooper and Alex Cane. They started playing music together sometime around 2000 but didn't really get serious about laying down tracks until 2004 or so. I've been a fan of this band for quite sometime and their 2006 self-titled debut even came in at #19 on my top 50 albums list . That same year I had the opportunity to see them live at the Conservatory here in Oklahoma City. I remember the show was a blast, and they did this really crazy karaoke [...]

Rough day, rough day. Time for videos to escape, if only for a few minutes... Some select gems from the music geeks down in the society , thanks guys! Cheers, Tsuru
Monday, February 1, 2010 Today's Quick Mention: Tonight I'm joining up with some people from work and heading down to the Austin Chronicle/Grounded In Music's first ever Mind Over Music trivia competition. It'll probably be pretty difficult, but my guess is that it will also be equally fun. Anyone else out there have a team? Sorry for no podcast this weekend. As I tweeted, my PC was having a variety of issues (not even sure if it's fixed now) and I just couldn't get it done. [...]

From hints of the Flaming Lips - ‘Soft Bulletin’ on the vocals and drum beats, to the electronic synths and guitars used much like Ben Gibbard’s favourite band, Electric President , City Light (not to be confused with City Lights) have not exploded onto the scene, rather started to make waves. And with the swell provided by music blogs such as ourselves, this should hopefully increase in size - leading to nothing but good things for the band. Good things which are 100% deserved, unlike some of the good things those ‘celebrity’ Big Brother housemates [...]

Over the years, I've written quite a bit about Ben Cooper's projects Electric President (w/Alex Kane), Radical Face, and Patients. He's one of the most genuine musicians making music today, representing a DIY culture where, you know, artists actually connect with their fans. Last year his Patients project consisted of him personally producing 100 CDs and decorating it and its package with spray paint and markers. To receive one of the CDs, you had to trade something, anything, with Cooper, as long as it wasn’t money. Now he is talking about touring the U.S., playing house [...]

Dix morceaux, dont Such Great Heights et We Will Become Silhouettes , pour faire date. C'était en 2003 et depuis plus rien. Ou si, justement : Electric President sort du bois en [...]

Photography by Tsuru TSURUFOTO on Etsy ! Vote for me (via lots of stars) here Baby & I took the day off to enjoy a wonderful 4 day "stay-cation" at home as we also have Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard Day off as well. I actually was able to, not only sleep soundly last night, but sleep IN, all the way to 8am (a rarity for me). Great way to start off a mini-vacay, eh? Well, being as that we are not in our [...]

Electric President -S/T Representing Jacksonville, Florida Ben Cooper and Alex Kane are creators of the softly electric indie pop duo Electric President . Their first album S/T is considered one of the greatest collections of electronica songs from this decade with amazing playful soft songs like Insomnia and Ten Thousand Lines. There music sounds like The Postal Service, Styrofoam and Anticon's cLOUDDEAD. Electric President - Insomnia Download audio file (02 Insomnia.mp3) Electric President - Ten [...]

On June 6, 2006, FensePost went live. Since its inception, I've written more than 1,000 album reviews and countless features, track reviews, live reviews, and video reviews. My collection has grown exponentially. I have a room in my house devoted entirely to records. CDs go in the living room and I'm out of shelving space. To say FensePost has become a big part of my life would be an understatement. It's as much a second job as it is a hobby. Above photo of [...]

Being the young age I am (under 30) this last decade was really the one where I can intensely focus on new releases, critically analyze and find real magic in modern music. As much as I wish I was cool enough to say I bought "Slanted and Enchanted" on vinyl the day it came out or smoke a joint and sit around with my friends about to listen to "The Bends follow-up album" with everyone saying "this better not suck!" But since I never saw Nirvana in a basement and didn't hear "Loveless" until Billy Corgan recommended it I'll just stick to [...]

Coming from Los Angeles the 'snow day' is nothing but a mythical being that I could only one day wish to experience. Well, March 2, I just want to wish you and the world a happy snow day! Classes here in New York are cancelled leaving me with nothing to do but catch a few more z's and present a mini-mixtape of relevant tunes that I really enjoy. A special track in here is from one of FMLY's closest FRNDS, Timothy Rabbit , who you may know at the bassist of The Morning Benders . We've known Tim [...]
It's becoming increasingly difficult in today's music industry to see artists initiating connections with their fans. With the instant gratification both bands and fans have demanded with innovations in technology, I sometimes feel that less emphasis is put on the culture of music, and more is put on the business aspect. Both sides are obviously important, but as a species bound by incentives, I really appreciate when people find as much reward in connections and the sharing of ideas, as they do in monetary value. This is one of the reasons why I feel so attached to Ben [...]
