Radical Face is the project of Ben Cooper, he of 24 years and half of Electric President. It seems early in a career to be branching out for a side project, especially after Electric President had released only one album. Its an interesting turn as well into more of a focus on songwriting and hushed instrumentation, a bit of a departure from the EP album, which was packed with pop harmonies. The album as a whole is a bit inconsistent, but the [...]

I first mentioned Ben Cooper's Electric President almost 2 months ago, highlighting " Good Morning, Hypocrite " for the 1.14.07 Assignments . Another EP track, "Insomnia" actually made it onto The O.C. Anyhoo, Mr. Cooper is a super-talented busybody and has another side-project album coming out March 2oth under the moniker of Radical Face . I actually like it a lot more than the Electric President stuff overall, though both stand on their own. Radical Face is much less electronic experimentation and much more an experiment of acoustic delicacy and melody with some really pleasant guest [...]

I have always been a big fan of the duo Electric President, and last week, Ben Cooper released an exciting album under his side project name Radical Face. The album is entitled Ghost , and succeeds in offering catchy pop songs interwoven with what would otherwise be considered folk melodies. The wide range of sounds often takes place in the same song, sometimes with songs going from almost complete silence to seconds later, upbeat pop. There is a focus on real instruments on this album (including unique ones such as the accordion, banjo, and of course, hand clapping), [...]
Poor Seamus. I think he's been reading too much Pitchfork. I actually thought 2006 was a great year for music. I got to listen to some fantastic new bands and meanwhile some of my favorite groups put out excellent new albums that I actually bought! Also 2006 may have been the first year my top [...]

1. Electric President - Good Morning, Hypocrite - This song is at a walking pace, skittering with computer-aided melodies and whispery layered harmonies. I hear a lot of Pinback here, and a lot of obvious Postal Service reference in other tracks. Pleasant, delicate, fabulous. Yes, kind of weird too.[from Electric President | buy ] 2. Sandro Perri - Dreaming - Ahhh, this song is so pretty. It's got the constant downstrummed home-recording sound of a Jose Gonzalez guitar with the syrupy (single-tracked) vocals of Grizzly Bear. Oh [...]
25a. Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down Quartet - Duper Sessions I was somewhat surprised when I first learned about this album. Sondre doing jazz wasn't too surprising, since his style fits it nicely, but I had no idea he'd been working with a quartet for his next album. The results were even better than I imagined and, while it's more downtempo than his usual songs, the temporary switch in style was an enjoyable change for us long time Sondre fans mp3: [...]
Discography: Electric President (2006 - Morr Music) Berlino. Spesso faccio l'amore. Faccio l'amore [...]

Its a cold afternoon in Dallas with this mild snowfall, I went out and threw my obligatory snowball and came in quick and put together my soundtrack to the winter weather with a snowy theme. They Might Be Giants - Snowball In Hell They Might Be Giants - When It Rains It Snows Mirah - Cold Cold Water (remix) Soul Coughing - Suzy Snowflake Low - [...]

Brad Neely - George Washington (2005) I think this video is the way Second Grade should be taught these days. How else can we get young people to understand why a stale, old white guy is important? Today our historical figures and politicians have to compete with the skillz of computer-generated Supervillians and the celebrity reach of Paris Hilton. And they pale in comparison. He kills for fun? Worked for 50 cent. Kicks the shit out of bears? Worked for the [...]

I really like this band. I like their sound, their use of reversing stuff, the combination of acoustic and electronica. There's not much else I can really say except that I want you to listen to these songs. They are fairly new; they came out in an EP at the end of June. In the blogging world this means that they came out nearly 12 years ago, but I like them too much to care about that. Electric President - I'm Not the Lonely Son (I'm the Ghost) [...]

I'm currently sitting in the gigantic work of modern architecture known as the Seattle Public Library, and I've only got 30 minutes to work with so let's get straight to the facts. I'll be leaving Seattle this Thursday morning as early as humanly possible, then driving for the next two and a half days. So, that means I've only got three more days at Sub Pop, and probably even more sad, three more days in Seattle itself. It's been one heck of a great experience, full of stories I'll be telling well into the future, but for [...]

It was only a few months ago that I first heard Electric President. Ten Thousand Lines offered me a glimpse of what this newly formed band truly offers, which is a mix of acoustic rock with no shortage of blips and bleeps. Though sharing a similar sound with The Postal Service , there is a stronger electronic influence. Their only album, a 10 track self titled disc, has expanded my scope of electro-pop. Ben Cooper and Alex Kane together they offer something irreplaceable: a first album that will [...]
