Every Wednesday, your hosts post a suitably stale video clip that we think needs to be revisited. Click here for more Crusty Clips. Got a clip you think we should post? Send it to crustcake@gmail.com . Crusty Clips brought to you by Metal Injection . Electric Wizard . Dorset doom. There ain't much to say we ain't said already . This is dirty, drugged-out doom, and you'd do well to have their entire catalog at your fingertips in iTunes (or your preferred equivalent). The crusty clip below [...]
I was perusing AMG's top two tiers of classic stoner rock tunes, and couldn't but think that might be a good guide for an S2S post (or series of posts). I can't say I personally agree with the selections, but it would be a fantastic guide for a beginner. Song: Gardenia Artist: Kyuss Album: Welcome to Sky Valley Comments: A beloved classic, and a favorite of mine, though I'd probably put "50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up)" at #1. There was actually a video for this in rotation on Headbangers Ball. Yes, [...]

I have this condition. I've written about it at length in my own personal archives, and even penned a song or two about it, but it has never been mentioned on this page. It is a problem that I am forced to confront on a daily basis, and one that continues to baffle the few friends I have trusted enough to tell. It deals with face perception and recognition. I am completely and utterly unable to picture the faces of any and all friends, relatives, and acquaintances. I cannot draw people from memory. Sometimes I see glimpses of features that [...]

Hey, did you know that on this date in history, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was made, repealing prohibition, was ratified? If that's not cause enough to celebrate, I don't know what is! And that is what I will be doing tonight, as I have reason to drink myself into unconsciousness. Don't worry, it'll be fun. Like ripping off a band-aid, or a strip of hot wax. It is not surprising, then, to see that CNN is running an article weighing the pros and cons of drinking . Their list includes answers to questions about alcohol [...]
Electric Wizard is, according to themselves, the "heaviest band in the world." This may be a bit of an exaggeration, but hey, it's a much less brash than Budweiser's assertion that they "know of no brand produced by any other brewer which costs so much to brew and age." After all, Electric Wizard are pretty damn heavy. Formed in 1993 in Dorset, England by Jus Oborn, Electric Wizard were a cornerstone of the 90's doom metal surge (see also: Cathedral , Sleep , Orange Goblin ), quickly developing a cult following. After [...]

Hello my loves. I'm currently scribing from the kitchen, where Sari is preparing a massive Sunday afternoon spread that includes homemade bruschetta and all sorts of yummy snacks. We're several bottles in, and it's been a generally beatific day. Not sure what the plan is tonight, but I have to be asleep at a reasonable hour thanks to another voluntary airport run in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. Hopefully this won't happen again for a while. Now here's the music. RULES for uninitiated noobs : With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to [...]

I woke up late today, slowly pulled myself out of bed, sat around sleepily for several hours before finally deciding to shower and begin my day. No more than one-hundred yards from my front door, the Lotus Festival was alive with music and throngs of people chatting noisily, eating, and enjoying a perfect day in Echo Park. I spent a little over two hours taking photographs and recording the sounds of the festival. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event, this year is the 35th anniversary of its inception, and it is always held in [...]
• Congratulations, North Carolina State University . You are the most recent in a string of college who are denying the RIAA the right to contact your file-sharing students in order to settle lawsuits. NCSU is following in the footsteps of The University of Wisconsin-Madison (third item) and The University of Nebraska , both of which responded to the RIAA's request to forward student copyright violators notices of intent with a hefty "No." According to the RIAA, 198 of the 400 letters they have sent resulted in $3,000 settlements. Now, I'm no corporate big-shot, or chief [...]
