Rarely, if ever, has a movie's soundtrack come to characterize a subgenre as much as Drive 's has. Any artist looking to make a name in balearic dream pop has to meet the standards of this collection, namely College's defining piece, "A Real Hero (Ft. Electric Youth)." Sweden's Postiljonen would have no problem breaking into the Drive club, especially with their latest track "On The Run." The synths and airy vocals are all there, so much so that "On The Run" sounds better suited for the films we see in our sleep than a Gosling motorcycle flick. [...]

Adding to their currently busy release schedule, the awesome Girlfriend Records have just dropped the new album from Montréal based power synth producers Le Matos . Having been released in the past twenty-four hours we haven’t really had time to sit down with it yet, but one of the eye catching tracks on the LP is Light Again , featruing a bit of fellow Canadian ElectroPoppers Electric Youth . Vanilla Ace makes extremely sophisticated and smooth deep house that frankly, more people should be paying attention to. In the vein of Hot Creations and Duke Dumont and all the awesome deep house out there, the London-based producer knows how to twerk it. With new albums from Sally Shapiro and Shout Out Louds dropping tomorrow, it’s a great week for Swedish indie pop. Shapiro’s album includes one of my favorite tracks of 2013 thus far, the addictive, pulsating electro-pop track “Starman”, which would have fit perfectly on the Drive Soundtrack (fittingly enough, the track was co-written by “A Real Hero” guests, Electric Youth ). Somewhere Else is out tomorrow on Paper Bag Records .
Sally Shapiro 's outstanding Somewhere Else LP is out next week (stream it early here ), and here we have a skittering, dizzy remix of one of the record's best cuts: the sumptuous Electric Youth collab "Starman." Henning Fürst (formerly one half of Swedish legend The Tough Alliance and also responsible for the blissful production on Taken By Trees' Other Worlds ) slices the original into tightly circuited loops, stacking them on top of each other in strange, prog-disco shapes.
