Its been a minute since we last did a music for your weekend post. There is simply too much good stuff out there to continue this bad habit. The first is from one of our favorite musicians on the planet...Vito aka Aeroplane. His track "Big Boys Don't Cry" came out about a week ago and its still on repeat. Aeroplane - Big Boys Don't Cry by Aeroplane (Official) The next is a remix of Rihanna's "Rude Boy" by River Gbeh . Provides a nice fresh song to a track [...]

How do I fresh? So what's not to love about "Take Me" by the Kingdom dude? A neatly-packed electrotheque beat supports the track framed by ligher-than-air vox courtesy of Electrik Red's Naomi Allen. Bounce to it. Kingdom - Take Me (Feat. Naomi Allen) Kingdom ( Official ) Rating 8.0

Take Me [ft. Naomi Allen] Fool's Gold is releasing Kingdom 's latest single "Take Me" featuring Electrik Red 's Naomi Allen on July 26th. The B-side, "If You Buck," is being described as "a dreamlike crunk instrumental." [ via ] drink the kool aid:
Last month, the homegirl MNDR dropped onto the raddest radio show in the game, Belly of the Beast (Thursdays 8pm ET) , on East Village Radio . She hinted that her single, Cut Me Out , was officially remixed by an NYC radass, and here we present you with the full on facts. It's Kingdom . And it's ah so ah good. Also... news of his new single today makes me swoon like a sweltering beast. Holy! [...]
Last December I decided 2011 would be my year of re-invention. Tired of looking like a skater/hipster/homeless teen boy, I committed to becoming a LADY, glamorizing my wardrobe so I could walk into a room and make conversation stop. Now just two months in to the year, the commitment to lady-like dressing has gone out [...]

Binkie, Naomi, Leslie, and Sarah are still going strong despite their underrated debut album's, How to Be a Lady: Volume 1 , failure. A new song, which they performed a few months ago, finally surfaces in studio quality and is the first single from How to Be a Lady: Volume 2 . The new single, "Put Ya Money On It (Africa)," is produced by Midi Mafia . The single has a heavy tribal influence. The sound is definitely a step outside of what was on their first album but kudos to them for venturing into [...]

Guinea Worms - Drunk in yr Uggs (mp3) ( buy? ) You find your poetry where you find your poetry. Give me oomph and self-delusional smeared napkin verse over any line mangled by cleverness. Don't gotta go the shortest distance to make your point, world ain't that way, world's a mess. Say what you mean and say it interesting and say like you mean it. Leave the tinkertoys and sophisticated self-concern behind for fools. Problem comes when you want to talk about your rock and roll -- songs [...]

It's recently come to my attention that far too little attention is paid to my R&B songstresses as of late-it's time to change that. "Rhythm & Muuse" is a 15-track collection of just a taste of the finest R&B-laced cuts I've come to love over the past few years, from Cassie to Amerie to Ciara and K. Rowland , with loads of amazing artists fit snugly in between. This was an impossible MuuCast to create-mostly because I started out with 45 potential tracks. As a result, it's clear that [...]
Electrik Red on How to be a Lady Vol 2 New Album - Electrik Red recently did an interview to talk about their upcoming second album which is titled How to be a Lady Vol 2. The group did not reveal much about their album but they did say that they are halfway through recording the [...]
The-Dream is excellent as always. In his third album, he shows-- What? This isn't The-Dream? Electrik Red you say? Who? Dream - Social Sciences - Psychology - Products and Services - Interpretation

Via: Proph Oh how we remember the days when we couldn't stand the ground Electrik Red walked on but then ther suddenly became favorites of ours. Fast forward a year and they still have not managed to gain any real mainstream success. Don't worry about that because the girls have been working hard in leu of the total lack of promotion from Def Jam . The girls continue their leotard routine at various nightclubs but switched it up a little by performing and debuting a song from the recordings of their sophomore [...]

Earlier this year, I heard a snippet of a new Electrik Red song. I'm That Chick , in it's 2 minute clip form, was sufficient to tide me over until this "fresh out the box" jam finally decided to land in my inbox. Today, we wait and want no more! Let's dance. Back with more swagger than seemingly possible, the freaky foursome are back in [...]
Ever since first laying eyes and ears on The-Dream's freaky foursome, Electrik Red, I've been an immediate supporter and oft-times rampant fan of their smooth R&B blends. Their debut album, How to Be a Lady: Volume 1 even went so far as to land on my BE[a]ST Albums of 2009 list . Far from us to call it fate, but just yesterday, [...]

Spreadsheets sorted: band name, album title, date A time consuming task to which many can relate That said, here's half the list of these favorites of mine Ladies and gentleman, the top 25-11... Did you get it? It was a rhyme. Anyway, without further ado... Dragonette - Fixin to Thrill October 27, 2009 (I Surrender Records) mp3: Dragonette - Liar [...]

Back in March of this year, I got swept off my feet by The-Dream produced girl quarter of Electrik Red . Having heard singles Drink in My Cup and W.F.Y. prior, a new song was shaping up to secure my solid backing of their efforts. Result? Mission accomplished! With the release of Friend Lover as the next single, and subsequent video, it was inevitable that the girls would be repetitiously loved and listened to here in Beastonia. With a producer like Dream backing [...]

Two unbelievably amazing things happened today in Billboard-land. 1. In a shocking (but kind of wonderful) twist, Britney Spears' "3" premiered at #1. I don't know if this is surprising to everyone or just me, but regardless it's pretty incredible. I figured after "Radar" had middling results that Brit was probably done for 2009, but apparently not. 2. My favourite nonsense pop song of the year has popped up on the charts, and I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED. Ke$ha is like...I don't even know how to describe her. She can't really sing (as [...]

It seems like Nike's ad campaigns always find a way to entertain me. Their latest endeavor involves Charlie Murphy playing the role of Leroy Smith: the player that beat out Michael Jordan for a spot on their high school basketball team. He claims to be the primary motivation behind MJ's successful basketball career. So all summer the shoe company has launched numerous shorts online featuring Leroy's informercials and fake news pieces. You can check them out at GetYourBasketballOn.com . They've been pretty funny so far but none of them [...]
These chicks are all over the place creatively but props for the Althea & Donna cover at the end. BTW: just found out half the group is from Toronto so, once again, it's a T.dot thing! [via City on my Back ]

Coming off as a hybrid between TLC and Prince's legendary Vanity 6 - Electrik Red is a new girl group produced by The Dream (best known for a little song called "Umbrella"). While I don't take trendy acts like this seriously, they can certainly provide a great tune or two during their (surely) brief run. I really enjoy this track and how the lead singer shares some vocal ticks with Kelis. ELECTRIK RED - SO GOOD 2009
