Most bands with guy-girl front-duos tend to improve when the guy stops singing: take Asobi Seksu or Camera Obscura. (The exceptions to the rule are generally Best Band Ever expectation-defiers like Yo La Tengo or, uh, the Velvet Underground.) On Elephant Parade's Home, however, Estelle and Ido (who don't list their surnames on FayBoo ) share their duties with equal aplomb. We hear Estelle's first, on the album's title track, and it arrives with breathy, waifish charm - Tracyanne Campbell in an East Village apartment. Ido's tone is less pretty but no less affecting, as gravelly and [...]

Ido, a film maker finishing his debut road trip feature film shot in Israel film 'Never Too Late' and Estelle, who works at an easy-to-use website-builder start up called Wix.com formed - in Brooklyn in 2007. The duo operates in charming and delicate lo-fi indie pop territory, and aspires to create, "Memorable, melodic tunes that will last forever. And a substantial audience who love and understand what we do." - Read Gina Alioto's interview with the band here .

Wednesday, February 16, 2011 Despite holding a name that ushers in imagery of huge pachyderms stomping about in line, Elephant Parade is very hushed, very subdued and ... small. Aside from the occasional acoustic guitar, Elephant Parade is, quite simply, a boy, a girl and their keyboard. Sitting shoulder to shoulder at their Casio, Ido and Estelle daintily stream ethereal, dreamy pop that wraps around you like a good blanket. Warm, cozy - Elephant Parade whispers to you a lullaby and rock you about to some bumbling notes; it’s incredibly [...]

Londoners will be familiar with the deluge of elephants earlier this year that took residence in shops, hotels and public spaces. Londoners will also be excused for not paying full attention to the details (after all, if it's not elephants, it's cows, pianos or, at the moment, ping pong tables ). It turns out that the elephants are part of a intriguing modern art/charity hybrid taking advantage of our being suckers for cuddly elephants and quite into big art concept stuff meeting us as we gad about the city. You can read lots more about the [...]
Is it me, or did March fly by? Either way, we like to think we introduced you to some pretty cool bands throughout that month and to celebrate, we're giving away a lovely mixtape of all the bands featured! Not only that, but you could win the mixtape on an actual cassette (pictured above and below). For your chance to win this special mixtape, all you need to do is: 1. [...]

Elephant Parade are a lo-fi NYC duo . Recently they contacted Off the Radar and sent along their new single 'Grand Opening' from their forthcoming sophmore album Home . Seems they only use freeware software and a cheap plastic mic in their recording process. Considering how amazing 'Grand Central' sounds that's a pretty spectacular achievement! I always thought the most important thing in music is having interesting ideas anyways. With no further ado check out the beautiful 'Grand Central' that reminds me a bit of [...]

Elephant Parade are a boy-girl (Estelle and Ido) duo from New York. It's the sort of music old Saturday morning Kid's TV was made for. It's fun, bright and guaranteed to bring a smile to young and old alike. MP3: Elephant Parade - Grand Opening Their first album, Bedroom Recordings , was self-released and was recorded using freeware audio software and a cheap-ass plastic chat mic. It's gone on [...]

Tilly and the Wall - Nights of the Living Dead So it's Friday night down on North Avenue Where the gas-station-parking-lot prostitutes Will try to fix their hair in our rear view mirrors You know we're just trying to get to the club and shake our asses A caravan and [...]
Elephant Parade has released "Grand Opening" as the first single off their second album Home, which surprisingly enough was recorded using nothing but a cheap computer microphone and freeware recording software. I'm impressed. And those of you attending SXSW this week, be sure and check them out at Stephen F's bar on March [...]

It's always nice to receive lovely ditties in the ol' Knox Road mailbag, you know? You probably don't know because you don't often look at said Knox Road mailbag, but let me assure you: it's always nice. Anyway! This is a song, "Grand Opening," by Elephant Parade, a duo who will be playing SXSW March 19. The song stays lo-fi throughout - the band records on freeware and a "cheap plastic chat mic" - but as things such as plinking keys and string arrangements enter the mix, the song becomes more and more endearing. Add a pretty, shoegaze-y [...]
Elephant Parade Playing right after Sweater Girls on the first night of the Popfest, we've got Elephant Parade . Estelle (of the wonderful Brittle Stars) and Ido play sparse, hearfelt pop songs with acoustic guitars and minimal electronics. Their first self-released record, appropriately titled Bedroom Recordings , is sweet and sad and well, mostly its all about love — a reasonable enough subject for boy/girl duo singing like they're whispering into each others ears. They're currently at work on a new record, so keep lookout for that; I'd imagine they'll probably be playing quite [...]

I just recently found out Elephant Parade , the new project by Estelle from The Brittle Stars (arguably the best band to ever record for Shelflife Records ). The band have a new album coming out soon, but this tune is an utter classic that belongs in a movie soundtrack. Enjoy. Elephant Parade - " For You ". Brittle Stars - " This Trip ".

So, Valentine's Day has come again. You know that all over the world men, women and, especially, teenage boys are going to be dedicating "Creep", "Hallelujah" and uhm... "I Will Always Love You" to their loved ones. Leonard Cohen, Bright Eyes, and Brian Adams, Death Cab for Cutie, Magnetic Fields, and The Beatles will be heard on stereos, ipods and gramophones (for the old-school) all day long. If you don't want to bore your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husb and/crush with the same ol' same ol' here are some lo-fi and possibly less known songs that are begging to be dedicated to someone, [...]
Well friends, this is a familiar song of sorrow by now, but my car decided to have some serious issue this morning which caused me to not be able to shift out of second gear. You've seen many a' broken car mix from me, but oh well. Those of you who live places which don't require having a car: is it nice? Do you feel good knowing you don't have to worry about a subway car, a bicycle, or your feet breaking down? Is it comforting to know that you'll never be screwed because a mechanical moving part [...]
Musikkah Day Seven Muh-muh-muh-wha? [ Post ] The dualities post, a mix I've come to appreciate more and more ever since I resurrected it as a playlist on my iTunes. As you can imagine, this mix is a far cry from the last one, but I wanted to make sure Musikkah ended happily and with luuuurve. Shoving this to the end also allowed to me to insert one of the tracks from that movie Juno. Despite all that happy, the [...]

Photography by RawCore This is just adorable music.... no other way to put it really, sweet, simple, and super cute. Not much else to say? That's all there is to it. Grab your honey, snuggle up close on a rainy day, and smile... Elephant Parade - For You I like you, you don't make me cry I like you, you always make me smile Slide across the room [...]
This week, the Broken Dial mp3 Mixtape features stylish, wonderful tunes from: Canadians, Cinemechanica, Elephant Parade, Elie Milano, Francis...
Could Brooklyn be the new Sweden? Just about now there are more bands spilling out of that neighbourhood than anywhere else. Elephant Parade are a boy/girl combo with a lo-fi aesthetic which saw them recording their debut album in the comfortable surroundings of several New York bedrooms. That description and you can pretty much picture how it’s going to sound. The catch is that no matter how
