by teepoo It's kind of hard not to rock out to this new one by Vancouver's Elias. It's a new one off their 3rd studio release Fossils that was released on Valentine's Day. I don't know why people keep writing really pretentious reviews on them. They don't sound like Radiohead or Mars Volta. It's just simple, fun and enjoyable indie-rock. Elias- Hands and Knees Website
Elias isn't a new name to me, but I'm not exactly sure why. To my knowledge, I've never actually heard an Elias song until now, but the name definitely sets off several bells in the back of my mind. Where or why is anybody's guess, but it's what immediately caught my eye when I opened up my inbox to see that the band hand reached out to me. And I'm glad they did, because the tracks off their recently released Fossils long-player are the kind of big, hooky, straight-up rock anthems that deserve a turn to be shared. [...]

For me Elias ’ 2010 album, Lasting Distraction , is one of the best albums to come out of Vancouver’s vibrant Indie music scene. My first encounter with Elias was watching them as an opening act; that night they stole the show. I remember the stunned silence after the song, "All We Want", then the cheering. February 14th an album was released that deserves a whole lot more attention than initially received, that album was Elias' Fossils . Today, in attempt to bring more attention to this wonderful release, we are featuring the first single from the album, "Hands and Knees". The band exercises a significant amount of maturity in their songwriting abilities throughout the whole album, but something about this song makes this song stand above the rest for me. It walks the fine line with the angst of post-punk music on one side and the art-focused world of indie rock on the other. [...]
