Back in college, when I was still using Winamp (oh come on, you remember it too!), I had an Elliott Smith cover of 'Because' on my playlist. I adored his rendition of the Beatles track; it was tender and sweet, something about it sparkled. For those curious, it was featured on the American Beauty soundtrack. Well, it's been a handful of years since I've heard that cover but thanks to the always terrific, The Rawking Refuses To Stop! , ALL of Elliott's Beatles covers can now be found in one convenient blog post! Fantastic! I [...]

No official word yet but the forum posters over at At Ease are buzzin' with rumors of Mr. Garden State portraying the life of Mr. Misery. I can't find any confirmation on IMDB, Elliott Smith fansites or any other page for that matter. Hmm... I think Zach would do a great job with the role. Guilty pleasure or not, I LOVED Garden State when it was released 3 years back (however, the film was unsuccessful in turning me a diehard Shins fan, just a casual one). Let's hope there's [...]

Well, here it goes... my first feeble attempt at creating a suitable playlist to get you all right into the depths of my strange cerebrum....... The theme is a snapshot from just before dawn on an overcast sunday... so dark songs in the beginning that gradually fade to lighter, happier tunes... enjoy! BLACK SUNDAY DAWN PLAYLIST: 1. System of a Down - ADD.mp3 classic anti-consumerism rantings 2. A Perfect Circle - Diary of a Madman (bootleg).mp3 [...]
If you know me well and haven't seen Harold and Maude yet then I don't like you very much. If I made you watch it and you didn't like it very much; chances are you don't know me well anymore. I rate it that highly. Whilst I know it's terribly superficial to set standards by this sort of thing, I'm fairly certain those who don't love this film are dead inside, evil, or in the case of my father, both. The intention of this blog is to be about music. I know that. The [...]

It is said that the universe is in a fine balance. (though by whom, I am unsure) For everything good that happens, something bad equals it out. (I wonder, does the fact that I put the good/bad that way around suggest a pessimistic outlook?) So for every instrumental track I posted yesterday, I feel it's only appropriate that I re-balance the universe by posting an equal amount of pure vocal tracks. Just call me The Equilibrium-ator. Or don't. (I think I'd prefer if you didn't) [...]
