Today, two experts proved what almost everybody knew for over 30 years: Roger Jouret, better known as Plastic Betrand, did not sing the biggest Belgian punkhit ever: Ça plane pour moi . Bertrand's legal team isn't impressed, they released a statement saying that in a legal sense, their client is still considered to be the performer. The history of the song is shady. First off, their was Jet Boy, Jet Girl , sung by Elton Motello (aka Alan Ward , a sound engineer who'd record an enormous amount of hits). Story goes that [...]

Plastic Bertrand originally wrote and released "Ça Plane Pour Moi" sometime in 1977. And being a singer, it necessitated Bertrand to hire musicians. Oddly enough, the same players appear on Elton Motello's "Jet Boy Jet... [More after the jump...]

NewYears09 at PonyStep was a white wedding of dimensions...Gareth Pughs Djing sucked...But,sitting next to him while he got back together again with his dragboy flirt was actually kinda sweet(I am getting VERY old and sentimental). Possibly the greatest song of all time. Three chords- F Bb and Eb. And the lyrics, well, they speak for themselves, don't they? - ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---------------------------- - Yam!

The Midnight Juggernauts have become the latest in a long long line of artists to cover the classic by Plastic Bertrand, Ca Plane Pour Moi . And, they give it a pretty good run. I thought it timely then to point out and share with y'all, a lesser known but infinitely more awesome version, by Elton Motello, that was release around the same time (actually before if i'm not mistaken) and uses the same backing track: Jet Boy Jet Girl . So much more awesome in fact that in the past several years I can't even [...]
"Jet Boy Jet Girl" (Importe/12, 1984) No doubt about it, Elton Motello's "Jet Boy Jet Girl" is one of the finest records ever made. In it's original form of just over 3 minutes it's pretty much untouchable. The extended version may not be everyones cup of tea, but it sure is a fine way to kill a spare 7 minutes of your time. This 'Club Mix' was first released in Canada in 1979 on a 12"
This week was my last before classes start up again for me so I've been taking my time off to do some constructive writing and critical analysis. Just shitting you, I've spent most of it watching the bonus features on the massive 5-disc uber-awesome collector's edition of Blade Runner. Between the five(!!) different versions of the movie, three commentaries and hours upon hours of behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes and promotional materials, I'm shocked that I've managed to leave the house at all this week. That set comes with my highest recommendation, if you're a movie geek then you have no [...]
"Apocalipstic" (Twink, 1986) That's right, Elton Motello and not Twink, though looking at the picture sleeve above you'd think otherwise. Elsewhere there's a token 'with' and 'featuring' credit for Motello on the label and back sleeve, but it seems we have a drummer trying to steal the spotlight - had Nobby Goff kept the beat on this it would still be just as good, right? Apologies to all

At this point, John Waters could put out a CD of his own gastrointestinal biorhythms and I'd sell my sister's glass eye just to own it. So it reeks of obvious-osity that I'd be first in line to get A Date With John Waters , as much for Jet Boy Jet Girl (one of my all-time favorite New Wave gender-bending rave-ups) as for the bizarre John Prine track In Spite Of Ourselves . And [...]

Too many meetings and too much cake. I haven't been able to gather my wits about me today to get a post together until right this very moment, please forgive me. this.bigstereo.net is my new favorite place from which to gank quality dance punk, electro, remixes, and references to Bitch LapLap . RchrdOh? and Travis post a winner practically every day, rendering me incapable of leaving comments other than '!!!!!!!' and 'BEST EVER!' -- so professional, I know. They also have the best tag categories ever. Biggest, newest favorite from the BigStereo boys? [...]
