Despite being the most distinctive, talented and haunting of the early female Blues singer/guitarists, very little is known about Geeshie Wiley. She was probably born around 1900. She possibly came from a place called Natchez, Mississippi. She sang and played guitar. She recorded her first 78 in 1930 with a female friend, called Elvie Thomas, accompanying her on a second supporting guitar. She almost certainly also played guitar on Elvie's two known recordings. She cut two more 78s herself, the last one of which was released in 1931. [...]
