Dusdin Condren Yes, it's the shortest month but February is generally acknowledged as the coldest, darkest and generally shittiest month as well. Which is why it's nice that Sharon Van Etten and Shearwater are teaming up to make sure that there's something lovely to look forward to for at least three weeks of the four. On February 7, Van Etten will release Tramp , her third album and the follow up to 20102s gorgeous epic . Pitchfork has details [...]

Dear EMA , please stop releasing so many extraordinarily amazing sessions, you are taking over my blog: I said on Sunday that I'm continually posting EMA sessions because they keep blowing me away; guess what, it's happened again. Saying that, this one isn't just amazing, it's absolutely fucking essential. La Blogotheque Presents A Take Away Show are well known to me for being out of this world and this is no exception. No more words, search the label for more on the songs if you want, just watch these, all of [...]

For its Take Away Shows video series, the French website La Blogothèque records artists performing acoustically, without microphones, in locations around Paris. For the latest entry in the series, the former Gowns leader Erika M. Anderson, along with a backup violinist, sang three songs from Past Life Martyred Saints , her debut album as EMA, in three different locations, including a construction site and an honest-to-god crypt. Watch all three below. Read More...
Remember when the EMAs mostly consisted of VJ Simone on the red carpet in some ludicrous latex affair being crushed by various members of Die Toten Hosen? She’d slur something terrifically intoxicating into the camera, it’d cut back to an unawares Ray Cokes having a scratch before finally treating us to Jovanotti and his three hour drumming extravaganza. (Ah Europe! You so crazy!) How times have changed, whereas once this little ramshackle affair would be packed to its dayglo rafters with all sorts of delightful Eurotrash from the Vengaboys to Ace of Base, Aqua and Dr. Alban [...]

Facebook The b-side to EMA's stunning new single 'Marked', a track I mentioned enough times not to again here came with a pre-listening warning that was enough to put me off listening to it for a good few days, the warning; it's a collaboration with a rapper. Now call me fickle or whatever you want but rap has been one genre of music I've never managed to find any solace with and I was quite worried about giving "Angelo" a listen, I probably needn't, for on the whole, just like everything of 'Past [...]

Seems like a lot of artists lately are dropping b-side tracks, but that's cool with me since these songs are pretty good. EMA is the latest to have a new b-side track and it's called "Angelo." The song is exactly what you would expect and have come to love about EMA's music. Give a listen below. Fresh? Tweet

EMA 's Past Life Martyred Saints is one of my favorite albums of the year . She's great. Intense, but great. A physical release of the single "Marked" is on its way, and comes with the, until now, unreleased b-side "Angelo." The sound is classic EMA: noisy, emotional, blunt. An odd feature from the rapper Mzgorjis surfaces as well, and totally works. But classic EMA is really all I want from her at this point, and some rapping doesn't hurt. EMA - Angelo

The supremely talented EMA has got a new single out and you can listen to the B-side here. Marked is out today and you can listen to B-side track Angelo below. The song , which features rapper Mz’Gorjis, recently premiered on The Quietus . For any fans of the visual and of EMA, the singer recently recorded an awesome session with us (pats on the back all round please), playing Marked , along with the excellent Milkman . Follow the links for some [...]
The unreleased B-side “Angelo” featuring a guest verse by Mz’Gorjis of Oakland, CA’s Platnum Platnum Glam Squad, compliments the gorgeously dark, breathy reverie of “Marked”.
Angelo é o b-side do single Marked , ele mesmo extraido do último álbum de Erika M. Anderson ( EMA ), Past Life Martyred Saints . EMA - Angelo by souterraintransmissions

Erika May Anderson otherwise know as EMA has released the first follow up track to her debut album Past Life Martyred Saints which was released earlier this year. The new track is called Angelo and follows a similar vein to her previous work and if fuzzy and caustic sunny rock tunes is your thing, you'd be advised to give this track a whirl. [...]

The new single by EMA , 'Marked', is released today, while the B side featuring Mz’Gorjis was unveiled online yesterday. Fresh off the back of US dates supporting Wild Beasts and CSS. EMA will be touring the UK later this month with Zola Jesus; 23rd November, London’s Heaven; 24th at Manchester’s Academy 3 and on the 25th at Liverpool’s Kazimier. You can listen to new track 'Angelo' below.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: Sorry about missing a couple of music/movie posts this weekend and on Monday. I was totally engulfed in a three day long celebration of Middle Earth and Halloween. Things are back to normal, though! Or, at least they are until Fun Fun Fun Fest hits on Friday. My opinion of EMA's debut, Past Life Martyred Saints, is one that waivers based on however I'm feeling when I hit play. The track below [...]
