I may be getting ahead of myself here a little bit, but its almost October and fall is without a doubt in the air. A comment on a post from last week got me thinking not only about new music this fall, but also my favorite music that embodies the fall. More so than autumn necessarily, Emancipator really evokes the changing of seasons for me. More specifically, Emancipator's tracks really conjure up a sense of anticipation and progress. Even though it is titled First Snow, my absolute favorite track from Emancipator could sum up my feelings for the coming of [...]

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin' and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake and jsully of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole. This long weekend we pretty much burned down every watering hole around town. We'll [...]
Post from: The Galley Boys Emancipator - Soon It Will Be Cold Enough to Build Fires

To make up for the fact that she postponed Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel 2 times now, Mariah and her camp have decided to release a box set of all her Island Records albums. From the underrated Charmbracelet , to the comeback hit The Emancipation Of Mimi , to her latest E=MC2 . This would give the fans her entire musical efforts singe Glitter . The package will come with a nice price tags for all the recessionistas out there and probably a booklet of sorts. Posted in Beats, Yankee Panky Tagged: 2, [...]
When I first heard this it really reminded me of an album track from Cloud Cult and I think it fits well with the somber feel of this month's playlist. It's classed as hip-hop in my iTunes but I certainly wouldn't put it in that category yet even Cloud Cult head down that route at times. The blog I found it on described Emancipator as a mix between DJ Shadow and Sigor Ros, I think. I say I think because I can't find the blog again. I think it was from following a visitor to this page so if you're [...]

Emancipator simply mastered this mash up between Sigur Ros and Mobb Depp to perfection. The track is almost 3 years old, but I came across it on We All Want Someone To Shout For this morning (I guess they were pretty late on it over there too). Emancipator-Shook (Mobb Deep & Sigur Ros Remix)Peanut butter and jelly. Baseball games and beer. Starsky and Hutch Mobb Deep and uhhh... Sigur Ros ? Ok, so that last one might not seem like it would be a match made in heaven, but Emancipator has proven to us that it is. While Havoc and Prodigy might not agree on everything, I'd be willing to bet that they can agree that the Sigur Ros [...]

If you put Lemon Jelly, DJ Shadow and Aphex Twin in a room and said to them "make music please", you'd end up with Emancipator. Drawing heavily from hip hop beats and utilizing unlikely string instruments and natural sounds, there's no denying the absolute talent these men possess. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds of Emancipator. Mobb Deep and Sigor Ros - Shook (Emancipator Remix) Emancipator - First Snow Emancipator - Wolf Drawn Emancipator [...]

It's been a loooong time since I did a Perch Mix. Not sure why exactly, as the Perch Mixes are my favorite part of writing this blog. But I had some time on my hands today, so here's a brand new Perch Mix for everyone. Enjoy! 1. Bishop Allen - Oklahoma [ mp3 ] 2. Steel Train - Alone on the Sea [ mp3 ] 3. Jenny Owens Youngs - Led to the Sea [ mp3 ] 4. Metric - Gimme Sympathy [ mp3 ] [...]

It's funny how the human mind works. Each new day for every one of us (though many would argue differently) seems to be nothing more than an attempt to separate ourselves from the masses and to become unique in our own right. And it's not like we're being self motivated in doing so either: the world we know-every magazine, website and television show- encourages it, or rather, discourages the contrary. Take Apple for example: Here's a company that gears it's entire ad campaign toward emphasizing the different ways that you can express your [...]

It's the end of the year! Can you believe it? I swear each year goes by faster and faster. The end of the year is a time consolidating the past memories and preparing yourself for new ones. The year end activity is of course, making new year's resolutions...new ones, improving on old ones, or ditching the whole process in generaaaal. I discovered a pretty cool site for you goal-oriented folks called 43 Things where you share your goals with other people, your progress, and at the same time, you can cheer each other on! The most [...]

Rumors are circulating that everything isn't all rainbows and kittens at the Cyrus Family household. Rumors that Miley Cyrus is after emancipation from her parents are surfacing. Fingers are being pointed at her 20 year old boyfriend for encouraging her to essentially leave her parents. She is also said to want complete control of her money. Last year alone she earned an estimated $25 million. Reps for the Hannah Montana star are denying an ill will and confirm the Miley Cyrus emancipation rumors are false. Miley herself also stated her happiness [...]

First off, let me begin by saying that I am absolutely obsessed with The Sixty One . If you haven't heard of it, it's basically like Digg, except for music. You get points for listening to people's music around the site, then you can spend the points to "bump" the songs you like. The more a song gets bumped, the higher it climbs until it makes it to the front page. The earlier you bump a song, the more points it costs you, but if you bump early and the song gets huge, then you earn more points in [...]
Apologies for the lack of posts recently. The main reason is that I have not been struck by any new music that I felt compelled to share lately and it is only when I am genuinely excited about a song or artist that gives me the urge to post music on this blog. So instead of waiting for something to hit me, I thought I'd share some tracks from an artist that struck me some time ago when listening to Hitz Radio during my uni years. Whilst I probably wouldn't recommend you listen to the station now [...]

This track can be found on Emancipator's , "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" album, which was released in 2006. Love the violins on this track and the beautiful arrangement of beats. Emancipator was 19 years old when he released this album from college. For me, this is what Delerium should sound like but doesn't. You can read the ongoing of Emancipator on his blog and even get a glimpse of his Music Studio from his Studio Apartment. Emancipator - Anthem
[photo credit: Michael Natale ] Michael @ Gammablog has recently posted some photographs of hand made bird houses appearing on the streets of the East Village in Manhattan. BTW, why is it still called the East Village if it is has done been accosted by a wave of unapologetic affluence? The East Village. A name given to help better identify an activist and bohemian make-up of the neighborhood, right? Like Greenwich Village. Many think so. But I doubt poor and working class residents of the time called it that. [...]
