Have you ever been to PNAU's site? I got stuck over there the other day shooting all the colored balls trying to save the strawberry. If you're in the mood for some fun and amateur video... PNAU is an Australian duo with a knack for making catchy dance-pop tunes and doing entirely too much acid. Well, I don't know if they really do acid or not, but check out this video of them appearing on Australia's version of " Good Morning America " called " Sunrise " and it will be hard to not wonder why they aren't in straight jackets. Lucky for us though, PNAU haven't been committed (yet), and are still pumping out their original brand of light hearted electro-pop. The Miami Horror / Fred Falke remix of their latest collaboration [...]

Oh-Death It's already a beautiful song but Fred Falke and Miami Horror have worked their synth magic and produced this dreamy 80's version of Pnau's Embrace featuring the delectable Ladyhawke. Arbor Day isn't something we normally celebrate, but it makes for a great playlist opportunity. We didn't make something up for Earth Day (4/22) so we threw an Earth theme along with the tree theme. First place for the best tree song goes to Rush. You rock. Don't be surprised when many of these songs only have nature-based titles. MP3: Rush - The Trees ( buy ) Trees rock! MP3: Sea Wolf - Leaves In [...]
This (these) post(s) is (are) actually an updated and much more comprehensive repost of this one and this one and should hopefully satiate everyone that's been asking for these to be reposted. It also serves as a reminder that way before what teens, tweens, and over-protective parents today think of as emo, the term was shorthand for emotional hardcore. It was not a dirty word that referred to the lifestyle that gets so much negative press these days. It did not mean faux-depression, eyeliner, bad haircuts, and just plain ridiculousness. [...]
The Force & Styles record is probably my favourite happy hardcore record. I heard it first on John Peel. I've never been sure about Embrace but the closest I came to being sure about them was this song. Force & Styles - Fireworks (not on iTunes sadly) Embrace - Fireworks ( iTunes )

If you haven't heard about this story, it's pretty amazing. Jeffrey Lee, the lone survivor of the Djok clan, turned down 5 BILLION dollars, which would have easily made the custodian one of the richest men in the world. A french energy giant wants to extract 14,000 tons of uranium from the land, however, Jeffrey Lee claims that he will never let the uranium deposit be mined. He is quoted as saying: "I'm not interested in money. I've got a job; I can buy tucker; I can go fishing and hunting. That's all that [...]

So somehow last year I managed to miss what would have easily been one of my favorite albums of all of 2006, but am enjoying Embrace 's This New Day immensely in 2007 anyhow. The last I had heard of them before this they had released Out of Nothing but then kind of went off of my radar for a while and sneaked a new album in on me. Lead singer Danny McNamara has recently opened a new club , so I'm not sure how big a of a priority the band is or [...]

And if you know me than you know this has been an especially difficult week. Very long, very tiring and well, just tense. Thank God for music, right? I'm going to post some tracks for your listening pleasure. This afternoon I'm talking with " Immaculate Machine " so an interview/article will be in the making and I'm hoping to post that tonight. Be sure to check back. Embrace - " Gravity " (mp3) Emiliana Torrini - " Sunny Road " (mp3) Immaculate Machine - " Broken Ship " [...]
Song: Deadhead Artist: The Teen Idles Album: Minor Disturbance Comments: Jeff Nelson and Ian Mackaye's pre Minor Threat album. Pure punk if nothing else Song: I Don't Want Hear It Artist: Minor Threat Album: First Demo Tape Comments: The guitar on this song is amazing. I remember this song from my teen years when Minor Threat was a distant memory (3 whole years). Now twenty four years later I still remember the line, "First your telling stories, Now your Telling lies, [...]
Way before what teens today think of as emo, the term was shorthand for emotional hardcore. It was not a dirty word that referred to the lifestyle that gets so much negative press these days. Originating in the Washington, DC music scene of the mid-1980's, some so-called "first-wave" emo or emocore bands included Rites of Spring, Embrace, and Moss Icon. Then came Fugazi (featuring ex-members of Rites of Spring and Embrace), Jawbox, and so on from there... This is (according to me) a brief history of emo in music only. Yes, it will be incomplete in some [...]

I'd go on a limb and say that on most days my favorite David Gray song is "Say Hello Wave Goodbye," the beautiful, winding, 9-minute behemoth from White Ladder . It's not catchy, no chorus that sticks in your head; it reminds me more of a confessional poem of a complicated relationship. I have a hard time articulating exactly why I love it so much, but from those opening notes ( do it , click the blue arrow) it just seems to encapsulate some ephemeral longing and an intangible sadness. [...]
Voor wie het nog niet wist; BBC is naast een televisiezender ook een ra-diozender. Lijkt mij geen verassend of vernieuwend nieuws.
2006 was a great year for music, especially when compared to 2005. In fact, I had such a hard time picking my 10 favorite albums that I have expanded my list to 20 this year. With each record on the following list I have included a list of my favorite tracks, as well as some mp3s [...]

It's Happy Hour Again (Thanks, Peter! ;) ) Most of the work we had planned for this week is done, and only small problems remain to be solved. I'm glad it's over now, as I have a lot of catching up to do with the important things in life... meaning listen to all the stuff my fellow blogonauts have been posting during the week! I'm only giving you a little mixtape today, and I will hopefully start my regular [...]

Embrace are going to split up. Not so fast with digging out the bottle of sparkling Pomagne, though: they're going to make one last album , says Danny McNamara: "I think our next album will be our last ever album. If we get as far as making it and finishing it, I want it to be a masterpiece and I want to take as long as it takes." He added: "We've worked solidly since I was 17 - that's half my life - and I've done nothing except look at the [...]
