" Originally a purely synth based uptempo dancefloor-glider, Alan Palomo's single from his last LP "polish girl" was reworked in my head as a slow steady head banger, seemingly off of the drive soundtrack, with obnoxious rock guitars pounding away on the down beats. Lather, rinse, and repeat ." - Emil
Both a man and a myth, NY-based Emil & Friends is a con-man and pop connoisseur. A mixologist and remixer. A rising star and star stalker. Overall, and perhaps ironically so given Emil's fabricated identity, what shines most brightly is his own personality as he approaches each of his songs with a distinct persona. His [...]

Living Room by Bwan Beatrock Music is proud to present Bwan's "Living Room" LP. The full length album is now available online for free digital download. The album carries within it a tone of street-hop under the scope of social consciousness. Bwan describes his project by stating "'Living Room' is a reference to home, a place where you can be comfortable, safe and free to be yourself. But the title is a double entendre, also serving as an idiom for having 'room to live' from the daily struggles and oppression we as [...]

I'm usually only a fair-weather M83 fan (" Outro ", " Lower Your Eyelids... "), but this cover of "Midnight City" by Emil of Emil & Friends is pretty enjoyable. You're probably well aware of the widely popular original version, but I hope you'll take a moment to enjoy Emil's take. Emil - Midnight City (M83 Cover)

When I got an email that Emil & Friends have covered M83's monster "Midnight City", I was a bit nervous. While I enjoy the NY band a good deal, the song has already been mashed up, remixed and covered countless times already. Having said that, Emil makes his version of the song sound absolutely ntohing like the original. The dreamy factor is escalated to 10, and we have those glaring 80's synths that provide great late-night groove. This is damn good. Midnight City (M83 Cover) by Emil [...]

M83 - Midnight City (Emil & Friends Cover) Beautiful cover of M83 's Midnight City by Emil & Friends .

<!-- --> Click here for download Song: M83 - Midnight City (Emil Cover) [download here ] What's so good? As one of the most successful songs to be released in 2011, M832s "Midnight City" has been subject of many remixes and covers. We'd cover them all, but it gets redundant. Emil's just happens to be a good one. [...]

By Trevor Meyer Here's a stellar piece from new London-based artist, EMiL. This song has a killer chorus hook and a beautiful string arrangement throughout. It's the kind of song that gives you that feeling like you're on fire and every spot is your "sweet spot" on the basketball court. This track brings the heat all day. EMiL is set to officially release "Deadwood" on March 25. I am counting down the days. EMiL - 'Deadwood' [...]

The Emil & Friends tune "Downed Economy" is off last year's EP of the same name and has thus been flowing around for a good while now already, but as far as I can see this amazing Hotel Mexico remix is something brand new. So I don't know the particular occasion for this re-work, but in any case our favorite Tokyo-based lo-fi dance quintet has turned the track into a wonderfully lush, laid-back AM pop slow-burner, and I guess that alone should be reason enough. Emil & Friends - Downed Economy (Hotel [...]
Go big or go home - a lesson apparently well-learned by Emil & Friends , who recently put out a beautiful double video for "Prescriptions," a fantastic track off their latest album, Lo & Behold , and an unreleased song, "Let Your Heart." Shot on location in Bali, Indonesia, the visually-stunning piece follows an out-of-place Westerner on his journey to find meaning in this exotic, Southeast Asian country. Definitely worth the eight minutes. Lo & Behold is out now on Cantora Records . [...]

We were sorry to lose Emil & Friends from our CMJ bill at The Delancey on October 22 - the show run very late and the band had another show in Brooklyn at like 2 am. The band just released this new video that serves TWO songs ("Let Your Heart / Prescriptions") and will celebrate their CD release party at Lorelay on November 2nd. - read a Deli interview with the band here .

Last Friday I went to Bowery Electric to catch the end of the Cantora records showcase. I headed out the door towards the chic Cooper Union building and could see the crowd splattering out into the street from a block away. It was loud, it was hot, and there were a ton of people downstairs. By an excellent twist of fate, Slam Donahue didn't take the stage until around 10:30 by which time I was able to finagle my way into the back, where the guys from Emil and Friends were hanging out and I peeped the beginning [...]

This track surfaced today although it is not new. This was recorded back during the Man on the Moon: The End of Days sessions when Cudi and producer Emile first started working together. It was called "Do It Alone" back then. The song never made the album but a mastered version showed up on the web today with a new name. Nice to hear some old-new Cudi that isn't weird as hell Kid Cudi - "Bigger Than You (Prod. Emile)"

The ShoutMix got to chirping this morning about a new (old) Kid Cudi track that just surfaced. "Bigger Than You" is a final version of the first recording Cudi and producer Emile ever did together. Laid down back in 2007, the song was originally tagged to serve as the opening to Man on The Moon: The End of Day , but do to a premature leak things were reworked and the cut got, well... cut. In a 2009 interview with Complex , Emile discussed "Bigger Than You" and had the following comments to share. [...]

Crystal Ball - Emil & Friends Emil & Friends' (@emilandfriends) Lo & Behold , the brainchild of Emil Yves Hewitt and his "friends" (Alex, Steve and Dan), is erratic at its core. With shifts in tone and instrumentation often occurring midway through songs, each track acts almost as an album within itself. This great depth of variety and bold structure, though, are exactly where this band's strengths lie. The sense of humor, musicality and unique execution of Lo & Behold make it truly stand out. [...]
