Saturday was when the skies opened and from the moment I woke up, it rained continously all day. After the heavy night before, this was not what was needed and so the tent was unoccupied til about 11. After a hearty, free breakfast we went in search of some shelter and some music. The Folkey Dokey tent was the perfect solution to both those needs. The first band we saw were The Yellow Moon Band and they didn't help the hangover. Their messy blend of intricate, [...]

Emmy The Great song I have heard, I have finally managed to get my hands on. We Almost had A Baby - Emmy The Great

Truck Festival - Photo: Gina Policelli 2008 marked the eleventh Truck Festival in the normally sleepy Oxfordshire village of Steventon. Not to be mistaken for an event celebrating all things of the vehicular variety, Truck represents one of the precious few independent music festivals still going strong in the UK and has grown in fame and prestige over the last decade. No corporate slogans for this event; rather you can expect to see the local vicar pouring pints as the Didcot Rotary Club serve you up a burger and chips. [...]

"All of the stupid things you've done, I know and I'm telling everyone 'cause you're not my best friend anymore." Alexander the Great, Charles the Great - The Greats of history have come to be known as such for their huuuuge...tracts of land, but Emmy the Great , as far as I know, is no real estate fiend. Rather, this "the Great" has captured hearts in her conquests. It's simple really - think of all the words you can use to describe a basket of puppies or [...]

I'll apologise at the start for the lack of updates from me for the last month. Hectic doesn't even come close to summing up the last few weeks. There was the end of exams, followed by trying to earn some quick cash, followed by one amazing loved up week in Ibiza, then graduation. It's been tiring. Anyway, enough of the excuses. This compilation has been finished for a couple of weeks but I just haven't had time to upload all the tracks, which meant I couldn't let share it with you all. Onto the music. Here [...]

Een andere opvallende act is Emmy The Great . Emma-Lee Moss is piepjong, bracht tot nu toe twee singles uit, maar maakte daarmee en met haar optredens flink wat indruk in de wereld van de weblogs. Later dit jaar [...]

Jeremy Warmsley invites you into his house to view his musically minded friends perform mainly acoustic tracks. You've probably already aware of Welcome To Our TV Show as the first show was aired back in January but over the past 4 shows they've had funfunfun favs Mystery Jets, Noah & The Whale, Emmy The Great, Johnny Flynn past through to perform little ditties and I've discovered the likes of FrYars and Emma groves through its wonders. The newest episode is no excpetion to the talent with Moshi Moshi's finest Hot Club De Paris, The Wave Pictures and Slow [...]

Photo by Nicholas Lorden After much patient waiting, I was more than a bit overjoyed to find this MySpace blog post from Emmy The Great declaring that her debut full-length album was now in the final mixing stages and would be ready for release in September with the deceptively sweet title of First Love - deceptive because love isn't as popular a lyrical theme for Ms Moss as the pointy bits of the wreckage that tends to follow. Comparing the tentative track list with my own Emmy compilation [...]

Once again please excuse the lack of updates but I'm in the process of moving (again). I've moved more times in my "adult" life than I'd like to remember and this is probably the most difficult of them all. It's my second cross country jaunt (I'm moving back east, hello New York), but this time I have to do it all myself. I'm stressed beyond all belief and probably won't relax (I'm tense person to begin with) until all my things have arrived safely, including myself. Unfortunately I can't find any covers about packing but since I am [...]

Just a quick post, since I just saw this on her MySpace - anti-folkster Emmy the Great's sweetly-vocaled take on the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind"? So far a patron of the small-run, idependent releases, hopefully she'll soon get around to releasing an album? I certainly hope so. Download it!

Second old favourite of the day… It’s been a long time since I’ve had a proper Emmy the Great post here, but now there’s good reason to have one. Mainly because in a post on her myspace blog on Monday, she confirmed that the long-awaited debut album is now finished " it's our last day in the studio with the earlies. euan is going to glasgow to mix the record, and tom and i are joining him in two days when i've finished voting for anyone but boris. so far it doesn't sound shit, [...]

![[SXSW - One Helluva Recap: Day Four]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/976139_lg.jpg)
SXSW One Helluva Recap: Day Four March is definitely one month I always look forward to, and I contribute that entirely to SXSWeek - Austin's favorite time to show some love to film, music and technology. Buried into that schedule are four days dedicated to music, and it is in those four days that I really live. I apologize ahead of time for somewhat quickened recaps, but there's just too much to really get into individual sets of all those days. So let's get to it - day [...]
