Sorry, had to pop out there for a couple of months... Welcome back! Normal mixular service is hereby resumed and it's a very odd one. The trio of David Guetta, Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl and Dirty South & Thomas Gold are really really noisy. Then it chills out a bit while taking in the usual Offer Nissim madness before kicking off again with Sweden's Eurovision entry. A whole sub-section of indie disco then before ending up in a more four-to-the-floor house fashion. I need more practice. Bits of this are quite shonky indeed. Enjoy! [...]

Aidan, 24, very much enjoys the Keljet remix of Rolling In The Deep. Adele! Duck Sauce! Eric Prydz! Alexis Jordan via Freemasons! Pnau! Some random woman repeating a list of foodstuffs on a loop! It's Daddy or Chips?' first mix of 2011 and it's full on housey goodness. Tracklist Good Girl (Freemasons Club Mix) * Alexis Jordan The Truth (Chris Lake Remix) * Pnau Niton (The Reason) * Eric Prydz Hold On to Your Misery (DREAMTRAK DIAMOND SOUND Remix) * Cocknbullkid Satisfy [...]

Quick detour from the Top 50 to bring you a boogie detour. 2010 has been, well, ok I guess, for dance music but hardly a vintage year. That said, I suspect you will find much to wiggly your hips in Refudiate , this final mix of 2010. A few big names, a lot of big tracks and a healthy smattering of new stuff. And Owl City. Thank you all so much for letting me soundtrack some of your happy nights and brighter days! More and more to [...]

Iceland - they know what's what around winter. (The clue is in the name, ja?) So, when the charming Orn says he digs the seasonal mixes in the Scarves & Gloves series ( 1 & 2 here , 3 here) , what better recommendation could there be? This is part 4 of a series which reckons that Christmas is a bit melancholy at its core, but that we kinda embrace that sadness and find some kind of beauty in it. I imagine that it should work rather well on headphones in [...]

This is one of the joyful ones. One of the ones that make me want to leap about the living room with gay abandon ('Leave me out of this' - Gay Abandon) ['You stole a joke from Smash Hits in the 80s?' - Any smarty pants]. Mantronix does Kelly Rowland; Joey Negro does Labrinth; Freemasons do George Michael; Seamus Haji does Jamiroquai and Duck Sauce do Barbra Streisand. A pretty storming 74 mins of soaring, swooping, chunky, floaty house including Oakenfold with him out of Bros , Camille 'The Creeps' Jones, [...]

BCN SUMMER & BOYS 2010 , originally uploaded by Atila . Ah, was it just last week when I was getting ready to go to the beach in Ibiza? The gentle breeze on my back, sand under my feet and rather a lot of naked people with their bits out for a toasting? Wonderful. ( My pics on flickr ) Yes, Ibiza was wonderful and the music was fantastic (I recognised about two tracks being played on any one night. They're so forward-looking). [...]

What's New Zealand like for clubbing? A typical Kiwi. I ask because I burn to go dancing right now, but am off tomorrow to New Zealand for a fortnight. Two weeks of bungee, a skydive and other less adrenaline-wasting activities. I haven't been clubbing in yonks, but a combination of the fab spring weather and putting together this sizzling little mix has got me itching to shimmy. We have delectable clever pop from Groove Armada, Junior Boys (thanks Toby [...]

Isn't he nice? I am racing forward while looking backwards. This mix is a return to the house style but it's all very forward looking in that it's full of very very fresh tracks indeed (Swimming Places aside, but that's just very lovely). Faced with a dearth of new dance music, I went nuts for a couple of hours scouring the blogs, forums and elsewhere to see what was happening. I ended up (mostly) purchasing about 35 tracks and whittlin' 'em down to this bouncy (but not cheesy) house set. [...]

"This is a journey into sound" "I know you're gonna dig this" Etc etc... While I still love me a good housey housey mix, I've always wanted to have a go at a silly/bonkers eclectic mix a la DJ Yoda or Erlend Øye's DJ Kicks comp. So let me present Radio Daddy or Chips Volume 1 : a journey into some very silly collisions, ropey segues and a giggling BBC Radio 4 newsreader . Tracklist [...]

The woman at my polling place asked me "Do you believe in equality for gay and lesbian people?". I was pretty surprised to be asked a question like that. It made no sense to me. Finally I asked her: "What do you think I fought for in Omaha Beach?" via Boing Boing

Yesterday we sat out on the balcony for breakfast. Today, Ma Nature flipped the switch marked 'autumn'. After a frantic couple of months when I've managed to get three years leave from my job and moved to London fully, I now have all the time in the world to do a mix while the nights creep in. I've had requests (OK, request) to do something a little less frenetic, so here comes the moody stuff. Downbeat disco courtesy of Gui Boratto, Deadmau5, Adam K & Soha and other miserablists with laptops. Enjoy (or up your dosage). [...]

Flirt , originally uploaded by kuriakonz . I love this guy's photos on flickr. Technically excellent , a bit saucy and plenty of humour.

I'm aware that my readership includes some non-Irish residents, so the current furore about Brenda Power, Pride and marriage equality may be lost on you. So, here's my cut out and keep synopsis of what's firing up our airwaves right now. The characters: 1. Brenda Power Brenda Power is a journalist who has had stints on TV (with RTÉ) and radio (Newstalk). She has written for the Daily Mail and now has a column with the Irish edition of the Sunday Times . I wasn't terribly [...]

If it's 128bpm funky house you're looking for, go no further, because I'm back to doing what comes easiest: blending dancefloor friendly chunks of house from current and future chart-botherers and even U2. Yes, U2. It also has that Chicane re-do of that Sigur Ros/ Planet Earth thingie which no doubt many will find to be very distasteful and others will catapult into the Top 5. We also had to pay some kind of respect to Michael Jackson and what better than this rather groovesome Dr Kucho rerub of Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. [...]

Um, it's been a while... I had only two criteria: Can this be danced to? Can it just be listened to? Over to you... Tracklist Pure Imagination Gene Wilder Lullaby We Plants Are Happy Plants M.A.G.I.C. The Sound Of Arrows Method of Modern Love (Richard X "Join Our Clique" Remix) Saint Etienne The Way It Used To Be (Left Of Love Dub) Pet [...]

Nominations are now open for the 2009 Irish Blog Awards and they close at 6pm on January 14th. Eeek! I have made my nominations - some old faves and a couple of new kids. Last year, I managed to make the shortlist for Best Popculture Blog, which was rather fun (thanks again to my nominator (is that a word?)) but one was thrashed soundly by Rick O'Shea . And let's face it, that's probably going to be the case again this year. Which is fine -having witnessed him in action at the Irish Web Awards, [...]

Enough of the holistic therapies and big plane nonsense! Our feet are back on Earth and boy do they want to dance. So, straight out of my mixing pot is this 80 minutes 128bpm sexy funky slab of prime house. Go with it. I Am (What You Want Me To Be) (Beatchuggers & Sidelmann Extended Mix) Camille Jones Dream On (Warren Clarke Club Mix) Christian Falk feat. Robyn [...]

I may be poor but I'm not cheap etc etc... So everyone has or will be made redundant as a result of securitisation and other made-up things , but we can still dance, right? We've got lots of this year's critical darlings such as Lykke Li, Santogold and Ladyhawke. All of whom will be forgotten this time next year when we are talking about Empire Of The Sun and Little Boots. We've got a groovy proper dancey mid-section. We've got some class with the Grammy award nominated Deadmau5 mix of Morgan Page. We've [...]

... and totally nails it. 'Run' was rather epic to begin with, but somewhat 'understated epic' as indie bands are wont to do. So along comes Leona and turns it into a belter, but not in a nauseating Whitney overcooked wobbly-throat ballad way. Christmas No. 1 anyone? It's got a killer chord change and is a good proper quiet-to-loud tune after all.
