Endless Boogie at Terminal 5 ( more by Chris Gersbeck ) The band with the best bangs in the biz, aka Endless Boogie , (sorry Vivian Girls!) will kick off a residency at Union Pool TONIGHT (1/5) and continue every Thursday throughout the month of January. Complete Faggots (Jeffrey Jensen) will support tonight, with TV Baby and Bogdan Dust credited with assists on 1/19 and 1/26 respectively (no support announced for 1/12 thus far). $8 gets you into [...]

Touching down in Holland equipped with the ashamedly meagre grasp of Dutch of your typical drug tourist feels none too good. Having thumbed two phrases into the iPhone for safe keeping, neither would turn out to be in any way useful were any altercation to arise: they happened to be the gratuitous 'spreekt u Engels', and something about ordering a beer. Unable to pronounce either correctly, one coincidentally proves to be entirely incorrect and incomprehensible. A festival celebrating Canadian independent music produce in the unerringly picturesque, canal-infested Dutch haven that is Utrecht may seem somewhat [...]

Fine Art Recordings and Basic Soul Unit are set for a return to the rarely used but collective house music brilliance of Herman soon with the sprawling early Chi town pump of "Rock Your Body" . Thanks to the good people at Fine Art, you can hear it in full on the below skinny soundwave along with a remix from our favourite Ukrainian - no not Mila Kunis, but Vakula - a man who has a whole raft of great music on the horizon from Steve Reich remixes to the [...]

OK, not endless boogie, that would be impossible. But you can be sure that Endless Boogie explore the .. how shall we say.. temporal possibilities of a rock song to the maximum. It's not about jazz inflections and musicianly improvisation, it's all about the groove, about laying down a foundation, plastering sonic squalls on top, getting out there , but coming back . Eventually. There's no meandering here: Endless Boogie set out on a mission at the start of each jam. Think Velvet Underground [...]

DOWNLOAD: Endless Boogie - Tarmac City (MP3) The rumor as to why Jelly couldn't do the Pool Party at Williamsburg Waterfront this weekend is because the state, OSA or someone made up a rule that said no more than two shows can happen at the space per weekend, and OSA & AEG had already booked Primus/Gogol Bordello on Friday (tonight) and Nas & Damian Marley on Saturday. By [...]

Endless Boogie crawl out of the soil once more for a full length that's greased with the ravenous energy of Beefheart locked into a devastating guitar loop. The band has made their reputation stretching the riff into a monolithic structure and the tower grows ever higher on Full House Head . Punctuated by Top Dollar's gravely rasp and amiable fretwork; the band crafts albums for anyone who's ever had a dirty blues heart and a road weary soul. Broiling the ghost of the 70's boogie band into fighting shape they've dragged the past with them into the shell of [...]

Oh ATP, you kill me. I thought it would be fun, I thought it would be fine, but by the time I hit the bends of the A39 I could already feel last weekend's hangover rising in my stomach. At least this time I had a bed, although I arrived in Minehead long before my ticket. I'd given a couple of Cardiff friends a lift so we went and sat in a pub while I waited for my chalet mates to arrive. The first band I wanted to see were on at 5pm. Thankfully by half four I [...]

Entire island ecosystems arise, corrupt, decay and disappear within the generous lifespan of Yo La Tengo, the New Jersey three-piece who reinvent endlessly what an independent American rock band is supposed to do—play Flamin' Groovies songs in heaven, for instance. Guitarist/singer Ira Kaplan speaks very early in the morning. This interview by Chris Ziegler.

ENDLESS BOOGIE (New York, on No Quarter ) CROSS (Lexington) Thursday, September 24 The Swan Dive 921 Swan Street 9 PM, $6 , 21 and over ENDLESS BOOGIE began with no delusions of grandeur. They started off as an "old mans hobby" – just dudes jamming on riffs, locking into grooves, finding that transcendental part of a song and stretching it into eternity. Then they were offered a [...]
move along. nothing new to see here. aye. an album that could've been spunked out at various points over the last fifty years, that wears it's influences on it's sleeves like metallica patches on the back of cut-off denim jackets. so it's no surprise that guitar slinger / caveman grunter paul major's some major demonic [...]

I first became aware of Flower Travellin' Band as the dudes riding motorcycles naked on the cover of Julian Cope's book "Japrocksampler: How the Post-War Japanese Blew Their Minds on Rock 'n' Roll" . As striking as this image is, what really hooked me on this band was hearing their masterpiece album, Satori . Long before Boris, FTB was creating heavy psyche rock from the land of the rising sun. Imagine my surprise when I saw that they are on tour in the states. Out of all the kooked-out music biz bullshit that [...]

There's been no truer name for a band that I can remember in recent years than that of Endless Boogie. The veteran group has a reputation for playing live shows only when asked, a recording history that's virtually non-existent and a line-up that's littered with industry veterans (though not necessarily on the playing side). Despite this seemingly ragtag resume, Focus Level is just what the band's name promises; pounding, fevered, extended jams that burn with the hot tempered chooglin' soul of Classic Rock. This is a steamroller blowing the thick smoke of Creedence, Stack Waddy, Beefhart, Blues Creation [...]

Welcome rockers, today's lesson is on one of my favorite words in the rock lexicon, choogle, and the art of chooglin'. While it's a popular word amongst rock journo types, and a very fun word to say, it's a word that's often misused and it's real meaning and origin are a bit difficult to pin down. As a matter of fact, I've used the word chooglin' to describe the shufflin' sound of a blues based in the past, without knowing what it really means to choogle. Recently, there have been major developments in the study of chooglin', and [...]
