The belated Sequel: Remember my mate Dave? This one.... Yeah? Well, remember the playlist I made for him a few weeks ago? This one . Part one of two? Remember now? Well, what with one thing and another, I have to admit that I'd forgotten to bring you part two. What? It's been busy round here. I've been decorating, you must have noticed a few changes! Anyway, I'm back on the ball now and clearing up the backlog, so here it is in [...]

The Richter Collective Presents : Adebisi Shank + Shield Your Eyes (UK) + Enemies @ The Lower Deck , Portobello Thursday November 13th Doors 8pm 8 euro before 9pm / 10 euro after 9pm
With the band's seventh full-length album, Dig Out Your Soul , now out in the open, Oasis will be spending most of the coming months touring in touring in support of the release. In fact, between the U.S. stops with Ryan Adams , spring European arena tour , and the newly announced summer stadium extravaganza , which includes a performance at the legendary Slane Castle , the Gallagher boys are giving AC/DC a run for its money in the frequent flier miles category. On top [...]
Danish noiserockers Marvins Revolt have licensed their latest EP "Killec" to Richter Collective ( Enemies , Adebisi Shank ) for a proper UK release this November as well as Parabolica Records in Japan for release over there around the same time. Expect the band to follow up with a Japanese tour this spring.

It could be David Foster Wallace's suicide. It could be any number of things. I'm pensive and ponderous and have that not-wonderful ennui that involves thoughts of running. This, then, is the perfect soundtrack: The Enemy: This Song Is About You (Rollo and Sister Bliss mix) There's something about this, this post-rave post-post grime UK street-rock not-punk that rings reminiscent, to these ears, of Springsteen standing in a steel factory and pumping his fist in the air. And that's not a bad thing. Rather, UK group The Enemy, no relation to [...]
Enemies - Feed Me Seedless It's rare that I get to enthuse about a new Irish band. Sometimes it seems that we have such a dearth of quality that bands which would otherwise be considered average or underwhelming get prasie heaped on them just because they're local, overselling them and often doing more harm than good as a result. But even in the tired genre of instrumental post-rock. Enemies are worth taking note of. Having played with the likes of Cougar, Crayonsmith and Heathers, the above demo track is due to be released as [...]

OPINION: "The problem with some of the bands we love is their ability to spawn some of the worst musical creations of our generation" words: Jamie Milton If you tell me that your favourite band is The Libertines or Oasis, I'll have no problem with that. They're both bands who changed music in some way or another, for good or for bad, they made their mark on music's hall of fame and will remain there forever. But I've got one problem with this troublesome twosome, the offspring they produced. See, this [...]

OK, it's been three weeks since Lollapalooza and I think I'm finally recovering, so here is part one of an overdue festival review. I was very excited about going and seeing dozens of bands that I have loved for years, as well as a few that I recently discovered that I loved, but I had no idea it was going to be as awesome as it was. The event was well organized and relatively well controlled, which is a miracle considering that all 75,000 tickets were sold out every day and that there was another 8,000 or so people working [...]

Okay, I won't be at home for the next few days, so this is probably my only post for this week. For that reason, I double the treats. So I've got not only 5, as per usual, but 10 covers, collected from various compilations. You know, cover compilations are always hit-and-miss, of course you're not entitled to like every cover they slap on the tracklist. Well, here are the good bits. There's something for everyone, so I hope these will tide you over until I come back. Sorry if I sound hasty, it's just that I haven't packed anything for [...]

Photo courtesy of Chris Proud Looking back in the past, The Future was awesome!! I got to see every one I wanted to - Datarock, Evil Nine, WhoMadeWho, The Black Ghosts, Eddie Halliwell and The Chemical Brothers. I know the Chemical Brothers was an awesome show allthough the mixture of the big beats and fucked up lightshow unfortunately spaced me out for their whole set which in turn wiped my memory. I used up nearly all 2GB of the Digital Cameras memory stick on Datarock so here is that footage, [...]
