It's undeniable that V Festival is a lot more commerical than other music festival's across the country, and while the bash has certainly recieved the odd bit of criticism for it's uber radio-friendly line up, the fest is no less fun in our eyes. Certainly - going by the awesome line-up, it's unsurprising that the event managed to sell out in just two hours this year. The summer bash - which is happening on Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd August - will be taking place across it's two usual sites this '09: [...]

Waveriders, have we got a special treat for you. As many of you know, we at the Ripple are good friends with the UK's top music blogger, Winston of the famous Winstonszen . We've leaned on his ear more times than I can count to bring you the latest happenings in the world of britrock and the UK underground pop scene. After all, if it wasn't for the Zenster, we'd never have learned about Ripple Favorites The T orrents or Air Traffic . [...]

Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock will be releasing his debut single "Running Away" on February 16, 2009, taken from his debut solo album 'The Kundalini Target' (out Feb 9th). The "Running Away" video was filmed at The Prince of Wales in Camden with his good friend Mani playing bass and The Enemy in the audience. Watch "Running Away" video : Steve Cradock [...]

Rumblefish are a Korean pop-rock group, with a great cover here. I think I call it great because there's a certain familiarity in their version...It reminds me of an '80s American family sitcom or something. This is probably only because it's the instrumental version, the vocal version is great too though. Rumblefish - Last Christmas I think we are being duped here. While we completely love the Providence band The Enemy, we aren't sure what the heck this is. [...]

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, this is from their 2008 album Blood Red Tape There's an old adage that says that good things come in threes, and that number has certainly found significance for independent progressive rock band Portal. The band has just released their third collection of original material, Blood Red Tape, which was recorded in three separate recording studios, and is the culmination of three years of planning, patience and dedication; and the third time was definitely the charm for these self-produced independents. [...]

treasure fingers (sorry guys, this one is a monster, but read it- i promise yall will love it!!!) is one of the cats who, as far as im concerned, is changin the game. a member of evol intent (his drum and bass/miscellaneous dj work moniker is the enemy ), and down with KTN , Computer Club & Co. his 40 minutes in the champagne room mix changed my life. I honestly can't go on enough about how utterly perfect this mix is. 40+ tracks in 40 minutes. paced perfectly. [...]

I love Koko in London - some of my favourite gigs of the year have taken place there ( Stars , Air Traffic and Death Cab to list three - I also caught Tegan and Sara and Delays there, but didn't write a review). They're upping their game a bit, and have released some quick "highlights" programmes if you will - below is the Gossip @ Koko, or if guitar rock is more your sorta thing then catch The Enemy here . So as The Recommender blog looks ahead to 2009 we find there's plenty of bright highlights that we can already look forward to. The spring is looking particularly sweet, with two of the UK's shining examples of powerful Indie turning up to blow us away. Enjoy. As you read this, I am in California! I should have gotten off the plane in San Diego about an hour ago, and have hopefully made a dent in my NaNoWriMo project- which I have fallen gravely behind on (I should be near 12,500 words by Saturday)! All this vacation prep and writing leaves little time for sorting through all the newsfeeds, emails, music, etc., but I hope I've put something you'll all like here. Of not, come back next week, I'm sure there'll be something then. In the meantime, enjoy this week's Friday Mixtape, [...]

It's Christmas Eve in America. Not literally, but for those who are outside the States, today's the day when we attempt to end the 8-year mistake that has alienated this country from the rest of the global village. Resonator doesn't necessarily shirk away from politics, but we do tend to favor the dancefloor to the pulpit. That said, today is one the most important days of our lives, and to describe it as any less is to vastly underplay the importance of this moment in American history. I was listening to The Enemy's We'll Live [...]

You know those days where you think... "are we in high school again??" Drama is great to watch a la Gossip Girl, but not so much in the context of adults causing unnecessary drama and adding fuel to the fire. Here's to hoping for amicable resolutions, until then I will jam out to these tunes. MP3: Portishead - Silence or zShare MP3: Gnarls Barkley - Crazy or zShare [...]

FEATURING SPIRITUALIZED , THE COURTEENERS , TWISTED WHEEL, REVEREND AND THE MAKERS, EXAMPLE, THE ENEMY AND MORE ... Exciting times are underway here on at Winston's Zen, it's been all go for a good few weeks now, and it seems like an age since I last had a chance to sit down and write one of these catch-up posts. Regulars to these pages will have noticed substantial cosmetic changes recently (hopefully for the better) a swish new music player courtesy of Yahoo! and a host [...]
