Download: Epiphany "Such Is Life" Mixtape Epiphany partners with The DJBooth and WeAllScheme for his long awaited debut, Such is Life, creative effort whose foundation lies in its ability to relate to those who refuse to stop "living" despite the awards they may receive or the wounds they may suffer. With Epiphany handling mic duties throughout, Such Is Life also features seamless features from Justin Paul, Bijoux, Osyrus Bolly, Joshua and Gina Gee. Production and beats are provided by Apollo Lane, BlazeBeatz, [...]
Two things I respect about artists are actually quite simple. One, never stop working on your live show. And two, always be down for constructive criticism. Epiphany happens to be [...]

I hope to put up some Three Wise Men selections (the theme, not the group) before this day is o'er--I mean, over. Right now, we have the magnificent 1964 EP, Songs of Faith and Doubt , featuring six religious songs by the late, brilliant Sydney ( Lord of the Dance ) Carter, sung and played by Donald Swann. My previous copy of this EP (a thrifted copy, of course) was pretty banged up, with only two playable selections. I recently got a new copy and have listened to the entire EP for the first time. [...]

Download: Conduit Ent/SMKA Present: Goines "Something to Lose" Arkansas repper (and Suga City member) Goines has hooked up with DJBooth.net, Conduit Entertainment and SMKA to bring fans his latest solo street release, Something to Lose. The follow-up to 2010's Lead by Example: Leaders Are Real People 2, the project features 12 fresh tracks from the two-time freestyle series contributor. Included are reader-approved leaks "Fed Up" and "Runnin'." Joining Goines on the guest tip throughout Something to Lose are Joshua of Velvet Kente, Joe Average, [...]

When Nate Dogg passed in March, a disturbing trend emerged. Excuse me, reemerged. As a head-scratching and all-around ugly attribute of Hip Hop, the genre again flashed its uncanny ability to belittle one person while attempting to praise another. I'm sure some super-intellectual, psycho-personal reason explains this, but that remains another battle for another war. For as many "R.I.P. Nate Dogg" comments I came across, there were nearly as many proclaiming "T-Pain will never replace Nate Dogg." As if both coexisiting in the large scope of music was clinically impossible. Day six of "The 30 [...]

Here are visuals from @bigpiph for "Love Jones Gone Wrong" off his project Respect pt3: The Wait

" We hustle bottom up/that's word to pole dancers... " While Epiphany most definitely isn't sliding across tabletops for Washington singles, he still has a handle on making it reign when it comes to his raps. The "bang bang" Little Rock MC opts to roll with words of wisdom over ones with war but he still feels he's Part Of The Problem -which is the name of his upcoming springtime release. For now, "parts" of the problem child's cerebellum are being offered for freezy in the welcoming "Gettin' It (Hay)" and "That's [...]

@bigpiph is back with 2 new records as he prepares to release his project Part of The Problem dropping early March. Epiphany (Ft. Gina Gee) – Gettin' It (Hay) Epiphany (Ft. 607) – That's Cool

As Paloma will attest, I will drive into the hinterlands for fried chicken. And though I saw them on what seemed like every corner of Kuching while traveling in Borneo, visiting our nearest Kentucky Fried Chicken is a trip into the urban hinterlands - a twenty-minute drive to a dodgy part of town. About two or three times a year the lure will be too strong and I'll make the trek. It's also seared into my memory to hear The Drunken Frenchman quite drunkenly hoist a glass to toast, "Colonel Sanders - a [...]

Word always travels fast. While I didn't attend the recent A3C festival in Atlanta , news of the movers, shakers and just all around good people are discussed and, in some cases, dissected if they have music to critique. You have to appreciate someone who takes their craft seriously. Regardless if they're the next big thing or not, passion will get you noticed and that can never be undervalued. Hailing from the same city as Little Rock, Arkansas, Epiphany made the journey to A3C and shook hands, checked the panels, [...]

In the late '70s, there was a documentary called Scared Straight in which young delinquents/aspiring felons visited hardcore criminals doing time in Rahway State Prison. The theory was that being exposed to the harsh realities of prison life might alter the kids behavior. The film caused a stir, won some awards, and used to pop up on PBS, which is where I think I saw a portion of it one night when there was nothing on the other four or five channels available. Channel-surfing the other night, I stumbled across another movie that more [...]

@ Epiphanyiatl last November, joined forces with DJBooth.net to drop the self-titled inaugural entry in his ongoing RESPECT mini-mixtape series. Today, the Little Rock, Arkansas native has returned to tackle the topic of male-female relations on the second of four installments. On Respect Pt. 2 (Womens), Piph recounts his many and varied experiences with the fairer sex in 12 previously-unreleased cuts, including Booth-approved features "Apology of Sorts" and "Doin Thangs." Fans should keep it locked for news on Respect Pt. 3 (Life) and Respect Pt. 4 (Natch), set to hit the 'net "soon." [...]
