Erasure : Chains of Love [ purchase ] In honor of this week's 9th Circuit Court of Appeal ruling that Prop 8 banning gay marriage in California is unconstitutional, and also to credit the state lawmakers of Washington passing a gay marriage bill there, I'm celebrating with a song by Erasure, featuring vocals by gay idol Andy Bell. Darius started the week with a synth pop tune that was heavy on the synth ; this one hits the pop a lot harder. And you can dance [...]

Check out the kaleidoscopic clip.

As far as childhood toys go, the kaleidoscope was criminally underappreciated. Picked up with eager curiosity, it was quickly discarded for other fare when the swirling colors became blasé. Erasure unearths the relic for their latest music video supporting their current single, "Fill Us With Fire". Filmed sometime during the band's 2011 tour, the video features performances and various eccentric imagery filtered through a fiery red-colored kaleidoscope that gels over the song's pounding synths with ease. Dive in below. Erasure's 14th LP, Tomorrow's World , is out now via [...]

Everyone likes awards right? Especially when they are random and whimsical..right? Here's the rest of my favorite concert moments. Since it's my blog, I'm just going to call these awards The Panickys . I would call it the Rickys, but that oozes of ego boasting. 2011 Panicky for Concert Where I Saw the Most Friends Sloan, December, 2011 - The Great Hall Before I joined this cultish indie blogger group I am now apart of, I rarely knew anyone at concerts. Since that fateful [...]

It's pointless to pretend that I listened to 10 albums that were released in 2011, so I'm going to write about 10 classic albums that got a lot of airtime in my waxy ears this past year. 10. Peter Murphy - DEEP (1989) The reunion cash-grab tour seems to be here to stay and let's face it... it's hard for me to fight my curiosity. Last month, I saw Peter Murphy for the first time in 13 years-it wasn't a reunion or comeback tour by [...]
In the wide realm of '90s TV shows for kids, with the limited acting skills and ridiculous plots, Goosebumps was one of the most memorable - more so for the awful acting than anything else. One of its episodes shares the same name as this next band, who make spines tingle in a completely different
Erasure - Chains of Love This song has been in my head all day. I am glad that songs like this randomly pop into my mind. It's better to hear this flowing through the brain than some other shit that we're constantly bomb-blasted with out in public! Enjoy. http://www.erasureinfo.com/
The synth-based super-duo VCMG comprises Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and Erasure's Vince Clarke, both responsible for some of the most successful electronic projects in the history of music. In anticipation of its wide release on 12/13, VCMG are streaming the album's self-titled track

Martin Gore and Vince Clarke, formerly of Depeche Mode, have come together again as a techno group called VCMG.
It's been a while, but Depeche Mode 's Martin L Gore and Erasure 's Vince Clarke got back in the studio this year for the first time since the Mode's 1981 debut album Speak & Spell . Don't expect the VGMC project to be scraps from Depeche Mode, Erasure and Yazoo's table though — their first EP 'Spock' is a sleek slice of techno that jolts and whirrs in all the right places. 'Spock' is available exclusively on Beatport from today, with a 12-inch release on Mute Records on December 19. VCMG's [...]

I wonder what Dave Gahan has to say about the new project from Vince Clark and Martin Gore so cleverly titled, VCMG ? The two teamed up after many years to create what sounds like a tribute to Kraftwerk. For the meanwhile, we can expect their first piece of work, an EP titled, "Sprock," to hit the streets first and a proper full length at some point next year. The EP will have remixes from Edit-Select and Regis amongst others and be released December 13 everywhere and Nov 30 digitally via Beatport. I think there's plenty [...]

Vince Clarke co-founded Depeche Mode in 1979 or thereabouts, wrote early singles like "Just Can't Get Enough" and "Dreaming Of Me" and "New Life," and then left the band before they took on a broodier and more goth-informed tone. After leaving Depeche, he went on to form Yaz and Erasure. He is an all-time no-shit synthpop O.G. And in his new project VCMG, he once again teams up with his former Depeche Mode bandmate Martin Gore for the first time in 30 years. Pretty awesome! They've got an EP coming out next month, and the title track, "Spock," is a [...]

VCMG - Spock [Pitchfork Exclusive] by Mute UK

After 30 years working their retrospective ongoing music projects Vince Clarke (Erasure / Yazoo / Depeche Mode) and Martin L. Gore ( Depeche Mode ) come together for the first time since 1991 as VCMG to release a brand new album preceded by a series of EPs. VCMG is the fruit of initially tentative discussion and subsequent enthused collaboration where Vince and Martin, both influential as pioneers in electronic music, get to exercise their lifelong love of the genre as the techno inspired VCMG. [...]
Erasure have just released the second single from their current, Frankmusik produced, ElectroPop masterpiece, 'Tomorrow's World', 'Be With You'. Included in the reMix packager is this take on the track from London Indie-Pop trio Starshapes who turn in a sweeping five minutes of eclectic SynthPop. With a bit of a New Order flavour mixed in with modern a Indie production sound the reMix stands out on the single and makes Starshapes stand out as an act to keep an eye on. ♫ Erasure - Be With You (Starshapes [...]
Synth-pop powerhouses Martin Gore and Vince Clarke have formed a band, VCMG, and will release a series of EPs and a new album in early 2012. Their first EP, Spock, will be released November 30th through Beatport, followed by a wide release on December 13th. Clarke and Gore last shared album credits on Depeche Mode's
Thirty years later, former Depeche Mode colleagues Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore have reunited to produce techno for the new future. Under the banner VCMG (think about it), the two plan on releasing a new full-length album next spring, preceded by a series of EPs. It should be noted that this will be the first time they've collaborated since Clarke left Depeche Mode shortly after the UK collective released their debut album in 1981. So, why now? "I've been getting into and listening to a lot of minimal dance music and I got really intrigued by [...]

Ah, the summer of '95! To quote Bryan Adams, those, quite possibly, were the best days of my life. (And if my friend and then-No. 1 wingman Dave is reading this, he'll no doubt agree.) I was working at People magazine, living in New York City's East Village, and spending Friday nights at Sound Factory Bar and Saturday nights at the Roxy and Sound Factory, the legendary after-hours club in Chelsea. That's where I'd dance the night (and morning) away, flirting with beautiful strangers under the strobelights to a soundtrack dominated by [...]
