You may recall we got really excited a few months ago when Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds revealed that he is working on a project with Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery. We haven't heard much of anything since then about the project up until Ben Weinman issued a lengthy ...
Speaking of supergroups that might actually be super... Back in June, Mastodon's Brent Hinds revealed that he was working on a new project with Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Eric Avery (ex-Jane's Addiction), and Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta) - which certainly sounds like a line-up worth getting all hot n' bothered over. Of [...]
So how's this for a new supergroup? Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, and and former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery are apparently joining forces to create a new project. And while I'm always a little bit suspicious of mega-all-star-team-ups like this - for every [...]
Brent Hinds, Ben Weinman, Thomas Pridgen and Eric Avery are making an album together and Hinds wants the supergroup to be called Giraffe Tongue.
The most recent album by Jane's Addiction, 20032s Strays, was a big-budget, big-production heavy rock record that kinda flopped despite its awesomeness. Since those distant days, Jane's members have flirted with a full reunion (momentarily counting longtime hold-out Eric Avery as a returned member), with ex-Guns N' Roses/current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagen (he came [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Kevin Winter, Getty Images In line with rumors that Google plans to unveil details about a new music service during its Google I/O Developer Conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 10, Jambands.com reports that the entertainment part of the program will be hosted by none other than Jane's Addiction . The bad news? It's a private event. The good news? It will be live-streamed straight from [...]
Since revealing plans to record in January 2010, Jane's Addiction have seen enough turmoil in their lineup to damage even the most solid of bands. After original bassist Eric Avery departed once more in March 2010 , it seemed as if the band had found their musical brother in former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan. Sadly, just months into their partnership, McKagan left to pursue his own projects . However, the group didn't wait long before announcing an unlikely new recording [...]

Though many Jane's Addiction fans were likely saddened when Eric Avery quit the band this March, they'll at least have a preservation of his last U.S. show with Farrell and the boys. A new DVD/Blu-ray of the band's short set at New Orleans' Voodoo Experience last Halloween will hit store shelves on August 30th via Eagle Rock Entertainment. This may be Avery's last hurrah, but it's a first for Jane's Addiction, who has never released a full concert before this video, titled Live Voodoo. It will include the band's full October 31st [...]
Can old men rock as hard as they used to? When The Who took the stage at the Superbowl, we ticked off a box in the no category, but when we heard the Buzzcocks are back for one hell of a tour, we are ready to tick off like 10,000 boxes on the hell yes side. Filed under: News Remember last summer when the original Jane's Addiction lineup toured with Nine Inch Nails ? It was marketed as Nine Inch Nails' grand goodbye and fans were treated to a suitably great night of music. Hope you didn't miss out on all that because, it turns out, that while NIN may not have a fork stuck in them after all, it may have been your final chance to see the original Jane's Addiction lineup. As was widely reported earlier this month, founding bassist Eric Avery [...]

Jane's Addiction have always been that band, who always seem to break up to make up. On the heels of their appearance at the Soundwave Festival in Australia, bassist Eric Avery parts ways with the band. As is the status quo in 2010, Avery tweeted his announcement, stating, "That's it," he wrote. "With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane's Addiction experiment is at an end." Before any rumors could start flying around, Avery had been taking to his Twitter in recent months, hinting the end was near as a member of the band as well as not partaking in [...]
Considering everyone knew this was inevitable, we won't tell you to reach for the Kleenex, but as it's been hinted now for weeks, bassist Eric Avery has quit Jane's Addiction . The group's original bassist joined the band early last year for a reunion stint that saw the infamous L.A. quartet hit up just about every major festival, including sharing a bill with Nine Inch Nails on their final tour. Now, as Avery reports via his Twitter account , the fun has come to an end - at least for him: [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive Jane's Addiction are indeed carrying on, frontman Perry Farrell tells Spinner, despite original bassist Eric Avery again leaving the fold after last year's hugely successful reunion tour. The three remaining original members -- Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins -- have begun writing new music and now, thanks to Jane's fan site, Xiola.org , the internet is all abuzz that Duff McKagan is replacing Avery in the band. [...]

Words by Erik Dane Photos by James Trevenen This year at the ever-awesome, always impossible to get into Playboy /E3 party during SxSW , our deepest fantasies were truly brought to life - and not just by the Playmates strutting around in white bunny leotards. Rather, it was the emergence of Jane's Addiction , in full original line up with Eric Avery back on bass, Dave Navarro ubiquitously shirtless, Perry Ferrell and Steven Perkins back in their element, rocking as hard if not harder than they did almost [...]

Jane's Addiction aggressively melded avant-garde, funk, metal, and punk sounds with raw sexual energy and became an incomparable force. Despite some individual members' supreme awfulness over the years as well as the automatic lameness of the whole cash-cow reunion charade, I'm kind of intrigued to see the original line-up of Jane's Addiction play again. Lone hold-out Eric Avery had long said he had no interest in pursuing the past, but I guess he caved for the cash, as most eventually do. A new Trent Reznor-produced record is in the works with the reunited quartet, so we'll see if they can drum up any of that early tension, which is now two decades in the [...]
