...and they couldn't be more different. Eric Bachmann: " Carrboro Woman " (from To The Races 2006. Release date 8/22/06. Preorder here .) Bachmann 's work with/as Crooked Fingers bears little trace of his previous work with Archers of Loaf . This, too, is warm and folky. Recorded in Buxton on the Outer Banks, apparently. As promised last Thursday , this past Saturday night was another live music double-header with a bunch of bands in a "family" meme. First was an early show at the Drake with Toronto's Your Volunteer and Brooklynites Say Hi To Your Mom and then up to Lee's Palace for Ottawans My Dad Vs Yours and new local outfit Kids . The story is as follows: Eric decided to live in the back of his tour van and used the seclusion to write most of the material for the new [...]
there are a few artists that in my opinion can do no wrong, and mr eric bachmann is one such artist. every piece of music starting with his ground breaking work with archers of loaf to crooked fingers to a yet to be released record under his god given name, his music always been always been a step above just about everyone. if the two tracks of what sounds to be a very sparse and reflective affair are any indication to what the entire record is like, i may have to rethink and retool my [...]
