Eric's Trip, the noise pop group that spawned the careers of Rick White, Julie Doiron (who is on this year's list of nominees for the Polaris Music Prize), Elevator to Hell and Moonsocket, are back!!! The first Canadian act signed to Sub Pop Records released three wonderful records in the alternative early 90s: 1993's Love Tara, Forever Again in 1995 and their final effort together, Purple Blue , in 1996. And now we have this little development. We got an email this morning [...]

Summer's here...things are great...so why not take some time to listen to some of the most depressing music my hard drive has to offer! There was definitely something potent in the water, never mind the molluscs, in the early 90s on the east coast of Canada, spawning bands such as Eric's Trip, Sloan, Jale, and many more. I was lucky enough to see Eric's Trip in a tiny, packed venue in Winnipeg before the band disintegrated, bifurcating Julie Doiron from Rick White and crew. It was one of the loudest, sweatiest, and best all-out indie rock shows I've ever seen. Ah, memory. Disques [...]
