Weekly Dose (6/19/09) Zero 7 recently announced a new full length titled "Yeah Ghost" due on September 8th. The track below is the first I've been able to check out. I wrote about Erik Mongrain when his first album Fates came out in 2007. I mentioned that he is a self-taught French-Canadian acoustic guitar player whose two-handed "air tap" technique will change the way you think an acoustic guitar can sound. His latest album, Equilibrium , features more air tapping but this time around it's much less furiously frenetic. Mongrain , instead, takes a much more nuanced and percussive approach. On his recently released debut full-length Fates Mongrain demonstrates the percussive two-handed tapping technique he calls "air-tap" that makes an acoustic guitar emit tones I never thought it could.
