Norwegian indie pop band Kakkmaddafakka (means Party Animals) released today their second album, entitled "Hest", through Bubbles, the label created by The Whitest Boy Alive to edit their own productions. The album features nine stunning catchy indie pop tracks, very groovy and danceable. "Restless" is the first single off their record and was produced by none other than Erlend Øye (The Whitest Boy Alive, Kings Of Convenience). Watch the funny video for "Restless", made by artist and designer Mario Urban below: Kakkmaddafakka's "Hest" is out now. Buy [...]

A tune for the time being... Phonique feat. Erlend Øye: 'For the Time Being' [2005] [ mp3 ]

The sun is bearing down today, but I best get used to it. Here's a set of ten tracks to get us through the sizzling heat. Alright, to set things in motion we've got one of my favorite covers— Glasgow's Belle & Sebastian's rendition of The Beatles' "Here Comes The Sun" is pure class. Darwin Deez follows up with some steezy beat-bopping words regarding his Deoxyribonucleic acid. Virginia's own Barcelona hit up Daytrotter last August, it pretty damn good, as most things are that trickle out of Illinois studio. One of my favorite all around dudes has got to be [...]

All of the songs listed below were personally chosen by the artist or blogger above. I got in touch with a lot of artists and bloggers who were all kind enough to get back to me and take part in Desert Island Discs. If you're unaware of the concept behind Desert Island Discs , check out the basic pitch I gave the artists and bloggers I got in touch with. If you're an artist or blogger and want to take part, just send your submission with the eight pieces of music [...]

After the release of last year's debut album 'Dreamatic' , 'FM Attack, aka Shawn Ward from Vancouver, returns to our station from another galaxy. The engine is running full speed with the tune, 'Invisible', our favourite track from his new 'Astrowave' EP... Stream:> FM Attack: 'Invisible' ...And the journey continues with his remix of Erlend Øye's song 'The Black Keys Work'... Erlend Øye: 'The Black Keys Work' [FM Attack Remix] [ mp3 ] FM [...]

So Vancouver Canucks were eliminated by Chicago Blackhawks in the quarter finals of the Stanley Cup last week. Even if that meant the end of a successful season I know it was to the disappointment to another of Vancouver's prides; FM Attack . He has on the other hand something else to look forward to, and so do we. His new EP "Astrowave" will be released on June 1. And it's a real treat! More on that soon though. In the meantime we're proud to give you his remix of another genius; Erlend Øye [...]

last night's king's of convenience show was an evening to remember. although i wasn't too familiar with their work (with the exception of their first album which i love very much), their amiable onstage personalities encouraged me to relate to their songs more as old friends than new acquaintances. i got their feeling especially with erlend's solo performance of big star's "thirteen", a tribute to the recently demised alex chilton. it's a song that treads on the nostalgic path of idyllic adolescence which the norwegian duo has done so well in capturing through their minimalist ballads, and even [...]

The Whitest Boy Alive is a band that contains the member Erlend Oye , one of the most beloved alt celebs of all time. Their show is known as an indie pop fiesta which features dancing + chill vibes... Recently, they played a show in Mexico City, and Erlend Oye had his glasses stolen by the crowd. In the video, you can see the awkward moment as he climbed the balcony, had his glasses removed, then had people yelling "lentes, lentes", which we assume is the Spanish /Mexican word for [...]
Dan Snaith's newest album, Swim, strives for a versatile type of dance music. While different than his usual offerings, Swim is a fascinating success regardless.

Recently, I realised that my relationships with the people closest to me is something that I have not always handled too well. Too many times, I have either taken you for granted or bothered too much; sometimes it's both at once. I'm not sure if I'll ever get this right, but I do know that awareness is going to be the first step towards fixing this malaise. While I get myself sorted out, the closing track from Erlend Øye 's DJ-Kicks mix album could keep you occupied and make you understand that you have a place in [...]

I've got no marriage plans for a long time but when that day comes I'd love to track down Erlend Oye ( The Whitest Boy Alive ) and ask if he'd do a couple of numbers during the reception. His voice is like a smooth honey flavoured cigar that even a non-smoker like myself enjoys. We put up a post last year about Amsterdam Acoustics who produce films in the same improvised style as Black Cab Sessions [...]

Once, I played this song for Sean and Jon (the fraternal jazz-inclined rhythm section of my band ) and asked them what they thought the name of the band was. Sean thought for a second and then replied, "We're Really White." "Close!" I said. Racial stereotyping aside, Sean answered this way because The Whitest Boy Alive is really "white," in that they play things that could be funk in a really uptight staccato way. The band obviously understands this because they chose a particularly self-deprecating name. The group [...]

Last christmas (wham cover) - [...]

I hope everyone's enjoying the holidays. Here are some tracks I listen to a lot these days, to get into the christmas mood - my alternative/indie rock Christmas playlist! Eels - Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas Eels - Christmas Is Going to the Dogs "Baby Jesus, born to rock." - "Get off your sled and go to bed - don't you ever tire?". Mr. E, of the US alternative rockers Eels, knows how to rock my Christmas! [...]
