An upcoming release in the BNR series: Boysnoize 54 - 'Super Acid' is set to trouble your earballs on double 123 vinyl at the end of this month. For the 54th instalment of their BNR Series , Germany-based Boys Noize Records pay tribute to Acid House – one of the sickest sounds of the late 1980s. Featuring 12 squelching modern acid jams by Boysnoize Records artists and friends including Jan Driver , Housemeister , Dave Tarrida , Joakim & Krikor , Siriusmo , Strip Steve , Erol Alkan [...]
Boys Noize has compiled 12 modern acid jams done by BNR artists and friends like Erol Alkan, Feadz, Joakim & Krikor and Brodinski tributing 20 years of Acid. How to make a classic Acid track? First you need a Roland-Tb 303 Bassline which – back in 1982 – was made for musicians to replace the actual bass or guitar. It's manual is the most annoying thing to read because it teaches you classic music lessons, no wonder that the idea of the Roland TB 303 been a real instrument have [...]

![[Live] Chibuku's September/October Listings](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2830426_lg.jpg)
To generalise horrendously; Chibuku is Liverpool's answer to Fabric. So unless you live in Liverpool you probably couldn't care less about it, but if you do live in Liverpool and possess any of the following; a passing interest in the finest genres of dance music, about 15 of the Queen's finest pounds, two of the Faculty's finest quodvods (or just one of Peacocks' £8 version if you are a slightly upper class Chibuku-er), a desire to indulge in the North West's finest night life or just a fine bed to sleep on when everything goes beyond fun and actually gets [...]

alan clarke Wow, that's a painfully harsh but true post Sasha. I post some of that stuff!! Haha, no no, I know what you're getting at and I can't agree more. I'm still posting remixes. My fear is that this is what my parents felt like when the 802s came around, we're not getting old are we? No! Music is just turning into this giant melting pot of junk. Hype Machine just doesn't seem to be cutting it these days, it used to be the new music bible. [...]

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of seeing Fake Blood and Boy 8-Bit in concert at Mezzanine in San Francisco. As such, I'll be giving a short concert review here. This will be a good way of introducing some of Fake Blood's old music. First off Fake Blood is the nickname for Theo Keating. Keating also produces occasionally under the name DJ Touche, but most of his house stuff is under Fake Blood. In concert, he was amazing. Most DJs stick to their roots in concert, and Fake Blood is no different playing an assortment of his [...]

Chilly Gonzales plays the piano. Originally from Canada where his parents taught him the great Ivory discipline, he moved to Berlin, becoming notorious on the underground scene for his talent as well as his eccentricity - he proclaimed himself as the "Prince of the Berlin Underground" at a press conference. He took Daft Punk and Bjork songs apart and remade them, and was even invited by David Bowie to his Meltdown festival at our Southbank Centre. Then he went to Paris, where he collaborated with his good friend Feist on her first album and produce a selection of artists [...]

Gonzales may be best known for his songwriting and production work with Peaches, Jamie Lidell and Feist but Canadian born Jason Charles Beck has come a long way in the music industry. In the early 1990's he was a part of the alternative rock band Son before emigrating to Berlin to reinvent himself as a hip-hop infused pianist , songwriter and eclectic instrumentalist. Tonight kicks off Chilly Gonzales' Piano Talk's residency at Joe's Pub in New York, a month-long engagement with a very special guest every night. Tonight's guest is none other than Sia, with Andrew WK, A-Track [...]

2009 was gnarly. MJ died. Obama was the cool black dude who got elected as president, but now everyone's scratching their head wondering how he could be worse than the last bro, and this bass heavy genre of filth called dubstep kicked previous chart-topping bloghaus tracks to the curb. Here are some of my humble comments and selections from the year: Biggest Dubstep 'chune' • Emalkay - When I Look At You -Few songs deserve the title of being called mega. This track goes so far beyond it. Skream dropped [...]

So here's my favorites of 2009 post. Not necessarily the best tracks released this year, but they're among the most played for me. I'm not gonna comment on each one since I've probably already done it on the blog before. I will say that it's been an absolutely crazy year as far as electronic music goes. 2008 couldn't touch 2009 and I'm sure the same will be said next year. After all, we have the new Daft Punk album to look forward to! Read on after the jump to check it all out. [...]

Grandtheft, where'd the funk go? With the birth of Ducksauce and others I was really looking forward to a new wave of funk fused club music that Grandtheft (looking at previous works) should also be pioneering. I have no doubt that this new XX remix will flourish in the clubs but I was disappointed to see the incredible guitar hook in Crystalised completely absent in GT's mix. GT's been with NN since the beginning so I'm [...]

Grandtheft, from Team Canada DJs, sent over a couple of remixes today. He decided to tackle the ever so popular the XX as well as take on Erol and Boys Noize. Adding a big kick, a bouncy bassline and soft synths he brings the XX up a notch for DJs who want to bring the their sweet sounding vocals to the dance floor. His take on Death Suite is lighter than the original in my opinion, great bassline and some cool chopped up samples are perfect to keep the dancefloor going with something a little deeper. The most [...]
