Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper take on the Mongo Santamaría classic "Afro Blue" in this cover. This modern arrangement is absolutely gorgeous. The beat is real punchy, keyboard is really warm and calming, and the flutes are a really classy touch. Of course the classiest thing on the track is Badu's voice, but that goes without saying. Despite the millions of so-called producers out there, there are very few that are actually writing songs with such high levels of musicality. In my opinion, Mark Ronson is one of the few musicians who has the capability of producing not only a great track, but one that can appeal to casual music fans as well as purist snobs. Hyundai's RE:Generation project liberated this track not long ago, and today we get some fantastic visuals from the New Orleans style jazz performance. This is the new single from Glasper's next album entitled, Black Radio. The project is is scheculed for a February 28th release and this song is a remake of the Mongo Santamaria​ original by John Coltrane​.

It is hard to conceal my emotions right now, as two of my favorite musicians of all time come together to recreate what Mongo Santamaría composed and John Coltrane made famous, "Afro Blue". Arranged by Robert Glasper , the added flute section and Badu's lush vocals are a match made in heaven.
