Remember when Michael Jordan tried his hand at Baseball? Or when Shaq tried acting /rapping / being a cop. Or when Jim Carey tried "serious roles". Most people are born talented with one skill, and one skill only. Attempting to break from these norms can be devastating to a fan base. You see, sometimes when rappers get bored with rapping the results are excruciatingly terrible (Kanye West's Entire New Album). And sometimes when rappers think they can get out of the vocal booth and into the studio to try production, a fatherly figure needs to really step in [...]

How camp is that statue? I took that photo last year in Tampere, on my pilgrimage to the home of the wonderful Fonal label. If you haven't been, I can recommend the trip - Tampere is a lively place, with a bustling arts scene, fascinating museums (the Moomin and Lenin ones are [...]

Hello beautiful friends. I trust gravity is not keeping you down on this beautiful Sunday, is it? Unless of course, you're living in Vermont (as pictured above, six years ago), where temperatures are starting to drop already. After a miserable, rainy Friday night, the rest of the weekend has been beautiful. And how did I spend my time, you ask? Why, getting drunk on Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale and Port Brewing Wipe Out IPA of course! Today I joined a local bird-watching group for a picnic and some vino in the park. Then shared tasty [...]

With all the attention and praise heaped upon FM3's buddha machine, I'm kinda surprised that this one has fallen under the collective radar out there. Henke, an established electronic musician as a member of Monolake and part of the team that put together the Ableton Software, has taken on the task of manipulating the famed Buddha Machine's loops into 10 hypnotic dronescapes. The pieces could be nothing more than tranquil but Henke seems to do more than just play the loops one on top of another as the title would suggest. More often that not each piece samples one of [...]
So I was all set to do a big-ass post yesterday, but then Shanna Moakler bitch-slapped Paris Hilton and I had to work late (yes, I am officially writing for three people now); hence random crap today. But it's good random crap. The musical equivalent of pooping a bouquet of daisies, even. Datarock, "Fa-fa-fa" - By now, of course, the cat's pretty much out of the bag on "Fa-fa-fa"; I'd really been hoping that I'd be the one to brighten the blogosphere with its introduction, but then again I never really [...]
