We nearly choked on our Cornflakes just now, such was the surprise and delight to see the heavily loaded Eternal Summers slab of seven inch drop on our doormat courtesy of Meal Deal Records . The five song EP is bulging with mellow, reverb-happy, factor-50 pop melodies and none moreso than on 'Electric Blue' where louching vocalist Tanya Donnelly takes a time-out and passes the baton to equally sparkle-eyed drummer Daniel. 'Seasons' is out on white vinyl next week and should be pre-ordered here . Eternal Summers - Electric Blue [...]
From a recently played show on Jan. 22 in Charlottesville, Va including some inside info, "Safe at Home", "Able To" and "In the Beginning". Don't forget to scoop up their new ep coming out soon on Meal Deal .
Eternal Summers ' sweet lomography tinged video for "Secret Language" was neatly wrapped (bow in tact) and gently placed in my inbox this morning. "Secret Language" is set to appear in two different places: on a 73 split with Reading Rainbows ( Chimney Sweep Records ) and on a 5 track 73 EP through UK's Meal Deal Records ( actually available for pre-order ). Directed by Aaron DeBruin, who also filmed RR's " The Sun is Out ".
"Secret Language" appears on Eternal Summers' new Seasons EP, limited to 300 copies on white vinyl, out soon on Meal Deal Records. Pre-order here, and catch the band at SXSW 2010. mp3: eternal summers :: fall straight back ****** click through for more...

Modern forms of communication, if anything, have allowed the ability to spread awareness like wildfire. Case in point, this morning. Catching up on recent tweets, I noticed a link from Acid House Kings to a little something called Beko Records . I visited the site, downloaded all 25 current digital singles from the label, and began the task of checking them all out. Now I'm writing about it to let you know. And who knows where you'll take it. So we begin. [...]

Now outside of our "usual" hour of radio antics, the guys at Indie-Verse have given us a "prime" slot and we will now be soothing your ears every Thursday at 4 PM CST. According to the meterologist, it's balls cold today so we've slowed the mix down a bit (with only a couple of hard hitters). This week's effort was another solo run but expect Ryan to make it for the next. It's been a busy week with moving, work, and some SXSW planning but (teaser) we've got some good/big news coming your way real soon. Click HERE and follow [...]

BEKO-DSL is giving away the new digital single from VA's irresistible lo-fi duo Eternal Summers, who released one of our favorite EPs of '09 back in January. The band says their debut 13 song LP is finished and ready to go as soon as they find a proper home, but in the meantime, enjoy these hazy, sentimental new jams from the group: mp3: eternal summers :: safe at home eternal summers ::... click through for more...

Earlier today the (fairly) new digital single label BEKO DSL released two new Eternal Summers tracks that have been spending the day in my headphones. Speaking with Nicole//guitah, "These are sort of the oldest tracks from the new LP...They kind of bridge our EP with the rest of the LP if that makes sense." Said EP was self released earlier this year on CD and is soon to-also a DIY effort-release on a vinyl 103. Soon enough we'll see these two ("Safe at Home" + "Dye") along with 12 more. Can't wait to meet up with [...]

It's been a slow week so far, but it seems like every show is crammed into Thursday and Friday night. This is definitely the sort of evening where show hopping is recommended. Our favorite Philadelphia boys Drink Up Buttercup are playing at Union Hall and old favorites Shilpa Ray will be at Death By Audio. Personally, I'll be going to White Denim at Music Hall of Williamsburg. But I wanted to go out on a limb tonight and recommend something I've never written about before. In fact, I'd never even heard a song by Eternal Summers until a half hour [...]

Ok so all this year I have kind of been hating on all of this "surf-rock" and lo-fi shit that everyone seems to be loving (e.g. Wavves and every other self-described buzz band), but I heard Eternal Summers the other week and, I'll be a monkey's uncle, I kind of love it. "Able To" was the track that sucked me in and "Lightswitch," well that was an MP3 someone forwarded to me, so I'm posting it. I think part of it might be because a girl sings in Eternal summers, and all [...]

Gritty and raw seems to be the fad of 2009. Garage pop and rock dominate playlists, mine included. And the latest to achieve a primo spot is "Lightswitch" by Virginia duo Eternal Summers . This summer pop song is perfect for hot, lazy days and warm nights. It's got the laid-back swagger perfect for a living room jam, but has just enough power for a packed garage or dingy basement party. And it's flawless for those chilly winter nights when you long for something warm and comfortable. [...]

I've been mulling through this idea for the past couple of weeks, and finally decided to yank the plug on the weekly mixtape installment. Not saying I'm done making mixes all together, but I feel like they should be more of a novel concept. Maybe something seasonal? Not sure, don't really want to obligate myself to anything. But, when then mixtapes do roll-out I'll make sure you guys know about it. Dem Hunger - Charles Shit Drake ft. Nipsey Hustle - Killer O'Spada - Time (DA SUCKSHAFT Remix) [...]
"hey guys!! so our split 73 with eternal summers is FINALLY DONE!!! it will be up for sale online this week some time. you'll be able to order it through chimney sweep records online, buy it from eternal summers or us at shows and get it at select stores!!" Reading Rainbow - Be Who I See

Eternal Summers – Fall Straight Back Eternal Summers is a psych-pop duo from Virginia that specialise in the kind of jangly hooks that can add some momentum to your day. They're currently recording an album but for the time being you can snag their self-titled EP, which this track is from, for just $6 direct from their MySpace . Catch a live video of the even catchier 'Able To' after the jump. MySpace Photo by [...]

Although the Eternal Summers duo was not together, Daniel was a madman on the tambourine and is accompanying Reading Rainbows on their current tour. After a six pack of Stella and a bag of freeze dried shrimp, my friends have since sent me their newest ep. Somewhat similar to their Philly BFFs, their tunes are dripping with pop psychedelia and good vibes. Now in the middle of recording a long player, plus another EP to be released in the UK by/with A Grave With No Name . As for now, head over to t heir [...]
"Fall Straight Back", unlike the previous Eternal Summers song that I posted ("Able To") sounds like it was recorded in a closet. Granted, most lo-fi music gets on my nerves (being noisy to cover up your lack of song-writing skills is not acceptable) but in this case the shit recording ...
Philadelphia's lo-fi psychedelic garage duo Reading Rainbow , named after the PBS show starring Star Trek alum Levar Burton, are set to release their debut album Mystical Participation August 1. The album is sure to be stocked full of the fuzzy dream-gazing material akin to their Chimney Sweeps Records partners Eternal Summers , who are releasing a duel 7" with Reading Rainbow entitled Summer Reading , also due out sometime this Summer. You can pre-order the Mystical Participation 12" download here , or grab their "The [...]
