Eternal Summers new album Silver is the sort of thing you'd wish would go on for an eternity but doesn't quite reach 40 minutes. This short spunky indie pop record is chock full of tweeness, shyness, and a lo-fi aesthetic that will charm the heck out of you. With spiky guitars, choppy drums, and adorable girly vocals, Eternal Summers seem to happily stumble their way through Silver. They might sound sloppy and shambolic, but the purity and the heart behind each of these songs absolutely require you to give them a hug. Sounding something like a long [...]

This show began like any other, but without the transition difficulties. All was smooth. The music, on the other hand, was not. After a long, satisfying week, I was in need of some loud, abrasive rock music. But it wasn't all like that. Due to the cold weather, I mixed in some beach pop, fuzzy dream pop and good old garage rock and pop. Don't forget to hit up the bottom of this post and listen to two tracks from the playlist! "Torn Curtain" by Television [...]

I caught Roanoke, Virginia's Eternal Summers live for the first time this past July in an opening slot for Sonny & The Sunsets. Between drummer Daniel Cundiff's ferocious pounding rhythms and bandleader Nicole Yun's confident ear-catching vocals and assertive guitar play, I was quickly converted into a superfan. There's traces of everything from clean-toned punk to power-pop and dream-pop in the group's repertoire, but the most apt descriptors are infectious and wildly fun. This past spring, Eternal Summers released what's easily one of the year's better EPs on Forest Family, and on it, one of the year's best [...]

Fairly limited in what I can post - we are still without power. However I thought I would give you some music love via Eternal Summers. They are as close to a hometown band as it gets for dudes who were brought up in the boonies; you know, those places where moonshine is still a bread winning trade. Enjoy. So, Reading Rainbow (somewhat) recently added guitarist Al Creedon to the band, officially making them a trio. Though recorded before Creedon was in the band, this here new track features some Creedon-crafted feedback at the beginning and end of the song. The song is on Reading Rainbow 's secret split 73 with Super Wild Horses for the HoZac Hook up Klub . I suggest you put this on repeat. Listen. Downloadable: Dead End (mp3) Reportedly, the band will be selling the HoZac Hook up Klub [...]
I like to post mixes comprised of the songs that keep me company whenever I travel, however, the last few trips have gone mixless, sadly. So, this is a bit of a combination of a few different excursions, which I think flows nicely for an August day. Hope you like it and be sure to support the artists if you discover a new track you like. Beirut - "Santa Fe" Feist - "How Come You Never Go There" Cass Combs - "The Same Thing" [...]

Some weeks make the idea of an eternal summer feel like the most heinous threat imaginable. These kinds of weeks see you sitting motionless in your room in front of a small fan for hours trying escape the heat. Somehow you always manage to break a sweat anyway. Luckily, Roanoke, VA favorites Eternal Summers exist to remind you of the benefits of summer. "On My Honor" rides along on a skateboard of swift, airy guitar chords intertwined with a bass groove seemingly designed for the sole purpose of shimmying the sweat from listeners' brows. Nicole [...]
Thursday, July 28, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: If you do anything tonight it should be in some way related to Leatherbag. Catch them either at Waterloo Records at 5pm, or head to Skinny Ballroom around 10pm for their show with RTB2 and The Wolf. I noticed I had double digit tracks I'd like to share before the end of the week, so here's a rare Thursday five-songer. Enjoy. : St. Vincent - Surgeon : I absolutely adore anything that Annie [...]
