Dreamy Virginia duo Eternal Summers recently announced their signing to Brooklyn's Kanine Records (Surfer Blood, The Depreciation Guild), Pitchfork premiered the first track, "Pogo", from their upcoming album, Silver. The bright indie-punk ballads of Eternal Summers are delivered solely by Nicole Yun (vocals/guitar) and Daniel Cundiff (drums), but the creative force behind the duo's work is nine-strong. The immortal GvB just reminded me about a band I have been meaning to write about, Eternal Summers . They hail from Roanoke, Va. and their myspace says they play "dream punk," which is about right. Think Best Coast, Vivian Girls-type girl-led rock music. Eternal Summers also have the capacity for heartbreaking melodies and light harmonies in short, two minute bursts.
