It's time to face facts. You have some tough choices to make during the day on Friday. First of all, there's some great NYRM-approved bands playing at Cake Shop. Rooftop Vigilantes, Your Youth, and Yellow Ostrich. If that were a show during normal times, it would in and of itself be a can't-miss. I'm pretty sure this also has free Sierra Nevada. Then there's the monster BrooklynVegan show at Public Assembly, which also has free drinks and food, I believe. John Vanderslice, Times New Viking, Dom, Ty Segal, Oberhofer, Lower Dens, and The Luyas. That's oh-my-gosh-are-you-kidding-me- good. The Impose day show [...]

We Are Trees Going into 2009's CMJ Festival , Surfer Blood, The xx and Warpaint were poised to be the breakout acts. In 2010, the field is wide open with over 1200 bands seeking approval from NYC audiences. Still, the bands that should generate the most attention are Lord Huron, We Are Trees, Cloud Nothings, Lower Dens, Wild Nothing, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Circle Pit, and Yuck. Out of that group, I expect Lord Huron, We Are Trees, and Lower Dens to come away with the most accolades of the festival. [...]

Catch Eternal Summers on their US tour. Visit Eternal Summers on MySpace. Thin Lizzy - Running Back (This song comes from the brilliant album, Jailbreak . Phil Lynott has great rhythmic phrasing on this tune. It's classic rock and roll with catchy pop hooks. Plus, Belle & Sebastian totally ripped them off and reference them in their song, "I'm A Cukoo".) Orange Juice - Felicity (So sappy, cheesy and cool at the same time. New wave with schmaltz and who doesn't love being "taken to the bridge"!?) [...]

Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Trippy indie-pop duo Eternal Summers released their long-awaited debut album, Silver, this week via Kanine Records (Surfer Blood, The Depreciation Guild). This is the Virginia natives' first release on Kanine, who brought the group on board back in August. Download Eternal Summers' spirited Silver standout "Pogo" from Pitchfork's Forkcast.

Thursday, September 30, 2010 Today's Quick Mention: I actually had the wrong info in yesterday's quick mention. That particular show is tonight. Still not interested in going? Then I assume you have plans to see Guided By Voices and Times New Viking at East Side Drive-In. Let me know how it goes! Speaking of GBV and shows here in Austin, today I have a band that's covering the famed indie act and they just played our awesome little town [...]
Vocalist/guitarist Nicole Yun and drummer Daniel Cundiff of Roanoke, VA call themselves Eternal Summers , though their debut record, Silver, isn't as oppressive as the sunburns and dehydration that band name might imply. This isn't Tattooine. Instead, it's more like Endor: hot, certainly, but more temperate, more enjoyable... What was I saying? Oh, right: This album is a batch of warm, fun, enjoyable jams that will tide you over 'til next summer. The first track of the disc, "Disciplinarian" unfolds in that cute, slightly surfy, female-led pop way that a lot of recently great songs [...]
It's another big, big week for new releases from some of our favorite indie bands and artists, including LA's lo-fi, experimental outfit, No Age; the fifth studio LP from Deerhunter is a tour de indie with songs of psych-rock and electro-pop as only they can deliver; and the newest release from Abe Vigoda should be [...] Related posts:Best New Releases: Stars, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Club 8, Owen Pallett, Tender Trap, Chemical Brothers, Neighbors, Coliseum Recent Releases We Almost Missed VI: Owen Pallett, ARMS, Gareth Dickson, Monster Movie, Silver Seas Best New Releases: Elsinore, The Budos [...]

It's time to listen to the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are some of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. This mix starts out heavy and then gets weird. Listen. By Daniela Carvalho Straightforward. Simple. Short. Easy-going. Bare-bones. Guitar and drums. Awesome. A song that captures the essence of surf/garage rock. It's an example of how these genres naturally connect with the beach. Power chords float on reverb as the snare drum rifles off a few shots that help the song live up to its title. The music races with the energy of punk and a bright melody culled from the influence of garage rock. It's a cocktail of sunshine and the invigorating [...]

Eternal Summers: A Salty Salute (Guided By Voices cover) Proud brothers, do not fret / the bus will get you there yet I hate to repost yet another song from Impose (much love), but this is absolutely obligatory. VA dream-poppers Eternal Summers have gone ahead and covered one my all-time favorite GBV songs, "A Salty Salute". The track was featured on the now sold-out Guided by Guided by [...]

Virginia's Eternal Summers recently sent over their contribution to Wild Animal Kingdom 's instantly sold-out Guided By Guided By Voices cassette, which features new renditions of Guided By Voices jams by the likes of Big Troubles, Pill Wonder , Real Estate 's Martin Courtney IV , and more. Here's the duo's faithful, slightly-dreamier-than-the-ori ginal take on GBV's classic " A Salty Salute ." mp3: Eternal Summers :: A Salty Salute

For some reason, I keep seeing the Eternal Summers described as sunny, beachy garage rock. The music blog police should be retracting blogger's licenses for such egregiously erroneous statements. I doubt that Eternal Summers have ever recorded or played in a garage. They are more reclusive basement rock, probably preferring to play in only damp basements under the light of a single pull-string bulb instead of natural light. After a 103 EP released earlier this year on Chimney Sweep that caught my attention, the Roanoak, Virginia duo follow it up with their [...]
Ah, g'day, Joel. You've lost your what? Sloooower, mate. No way. Calm down, it'll turn up, no worries. Of course Matt doesn't have it. How could you even think such a thing? He doesn't bloody have it, mkay? When did you last see it? 2006???? And you just now noticed? This past June Greenpoint and Williamsburg held the second annual L Magazine Northside Festival . Last year seemed to showcase local Brooklyn and New Jersey based acts while Year two brought some slightly bigger nationally known acts. Year two showed progress from year one with better organization, but there was one problem on Friday when all the venues "were at capacity for badge holders" and a lot of Northside badge holders were left on North 6th wondering what their pass was good for (as the festival gets bigger and bigger I'm sure that [...]

Eternal Summers are a Virginia duo with Nicole on guitars and Daniel on drums. The band is set to release their debut album on September 28th on Kanine label, from which we have their single Pogo for you. The band plays uplifting surf/indie pop, the kind we love. Check them out. Eternal Summers - Pogo Artist.Site
