The eminent dreamscaper, Balam Acab , dropped some free material earlier last month on his facebook , under the name Etherea. I know I'm a tad late on this one but it's far too good not to be shared. 'You Dont Have To.. Go To College' Animal Collective never ceases to amaze. This track was about as lively as Stephen Hawking in a snowstorm, until AC came along and added their own flair to it. Most people would say that Animal Collective has completely reworked their sound since Sung Tongs was released, and to some extent they have... although there's one thing that hasn't changed and probably (hopefully) won't: their love and channeling of Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds / SMiLE -era Beach Boys. Most people ignore the influence (they prefer to think of Animal Collective as completely original in every way) while some (my father included) joke about how AC's music is almost "criminally derivative" -- we all know there's at least a splinter of truth to both [...]
