Eula Genre: Rock / Showtunes / Thrash From: New Haven, Connecticut, United States New wave punk revivalists Eula are back with their excellent new EP 'Language Of Threat' . With a sound that hits you like a punch in the brain from a .44 magnum. The band are in fighting mood on the Devil's favourite track on the EP, [...]
New Haven, Connecticut's Eula means business. This Constitution State trio has a post-punk aggression that cannot be tamed, but their frontwoman, Alyse, brings an undeniably innocent femininity to the group. It's a tough emotional tightrope to walk, but the band does it. It's a musical mood swing with a straightforward delivery, so nothing gets between you and the battering ram of emotion. Eula has a new EP out called Language of Threat , and it's their fifth release since the band's inception in 2005. Here's a track from it: MP3: [...]

Eula hail from New Haven, CT and it is not that often I get to write about bands from my home state. The band met while Djing of New Haven's WNHU independent radio station. "Language Of Threat" is the second EP from the band that follows their first release "Fill Your Heart." A quick list to this EP and you can't help but ask the question how is this lot not more popular? The first track "Housewolf" features this frantic high pitched vocal by Alyse combined with the trashy bass make for some great dance floor fotter. A track like [...]
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: I saw that Pitchfork and Idolator both ran stories yesterday about the OiNK users and the fines and community service that the judge handed down to them. I thought they made out pretty well, but perhaps I'm just cool with anything that doesn't involved jail. Any thoughts? Was it fair or unnecessary? And now I have an EP for your listening pleasure. Enjoy. : Marissa Nadler - River Of Dirt : The weather [...]

Eula are Alyse (vocals, guitar) + Jef (bass) + Nate (drums). They describe themselves thusly... "Pulsating, sincere on verge of unraveling happy distortion. Running down complex flourishes with clarity melodious squares. Beat Beat crash crash slap swelling to precise fullness pooling on the floor." I can summarize for you: indie rock filled with postpunky goodness. The Connecticut trio are releasing a physical copy of their latest EP, Language Of Threat in March (I think). Take a listen. Downloadables: "Housewolf" (box.net mp3) "Fight Riff" (box.net mp3) Eula have [...]
The Good : Feist & Ben Gibbard - "Train Song" ; Listening to the beautiful voice of Leslie Feist paired with the subutle, quieted voice of Ben Gibbard is almost like listening to a version of the Postal Service only with acoustic guitar and no electronic sounds. Okay, maybe it doesn't sound anything like the Postal Service but it does have that inspired, emotional feel that seems to have been stripped from the most recent Deat Cab stuff. This track, off the Dark Was the Night compilation, is positively beautiful [...]

Eula will be releasing their second EP entitled Language of Threat in March of 2009, with an East Coast tour to follow. The three musicians met while DJing in the basement of New Haven, CT's finest independent radio station, WNHU [88.7FM]. After realizing eerily similar playlists, it wasn't long before the three united and began creating their own music to spin on the airwaves. Mp3:Eula - Housewolf

Eula @ Martini Red - Pop Tarts Suck Toasted I always have a hard time reviewing the shows I've put together. This is of course due to my unabashed bias towards the bands I book. I really enjoy these bands, otherwise what would be the point of asking them to play a show for me? That said I enlisted some of the folks that attended the show to lay down their opinions of what they saw Friday night. Here's what they had to say (please note I am friends or friendly with all these [...]

I don't know what's been going on in Connecticut lately, but for some reason it seems like there is a truly blossoming scene going on north of New York, a scene made up of DIYers that feel they have something urgent to say or who just want to make noise and get down with themselves every weekend. Whatever the case me be I am glad it is happening because it is giving us bands like the three piece
