She stays busy recording and touring with A-Trak , Kanye West , and bigger bro J2K of Flosstradamus . But she's not the only one keeping busy—for each bangin' track there's a handful of remixers eager to rip it apart and build it back up again. Enter TonyX of 1/2ALIVE crew. He's been busy —besides throwing Vancouver's freshest dance party called [...]

H ere's the deal, I've ridden this planet around el sol 36 times and every orbit gets better. As such, I'm celebrating with a party at Pepe Delgados on tomorrow, Saturday 5 January. The fine folks in The Rum Fellows and The Separation have agreed to play a few songs so you ought to come by for a spell. Things should start rollin' around 9-9:30-ishishish. Feel free to come by, wish me happy birthday and contribute to my tattoo [...]

You should all be snuggled tight in your beds dreaming of Saint Nick right about now, but if you're not, then you might as well be busting a move. To provide a bit of assistance in that area, here is an über-mega-large list of remixes to put the hip in your shake. Most of these were penned in 2007, so we'll call it an end of the year, best of, remix, mixtape...or something like that. I inquired to Party Ends and Cubik Musik about the remixes they enjoyed this year, so PE sent over [...]

Returning to their earlier, experimental synthpop roots must have been too much for the casual Eurythmics fan, since 1987's Savage remains their lowest-charting album (not counting the soundtrack for 1984 ) . Coming off the heels of the more rock-oriented Be Yourself Tonight and Revenge LPs and hits like "Would I Lie To You?" and "Missionary Man", Top 40 radio programmers should have been ready for more of the same when presented with Savage's first single, "I Need A Man". A crunching guitar riff rides [...]

No, not The Loft , but my loft. I found some old records up there last week (not mine), most of which were bad - Phil Collins , Pointer Sisters , Miami Sound Machine etc. But this track by Eurythmics really caught my ear. It's the b-side to their Sexcrime single, taken from their soundtrack to Michael Radford's film of the George Orwell novel 1984 . The beat is nice and slow and the [...]

Can sex dripping vocals change an eerie, haunting new-wave classic into something new and exciting? We know that this particular song can be twisted even further into the realm of darkness and evil thanks to Marilyn Manson, but how far into the realm of depravity and sin can it be tweaked given enough grind and sway? And when we decide that, what of the original? Can it be surpassed or will it hold up? Tonight we'll find out with Thunderheist vs. Eurythmics, the Sweet Dreams Showdown. The beats [...]
An estrogen-filled post tonight peppered with testosterone-filled sexist comments by yours truly. I am a pig and I apologize in advance. Eurythmics I Need A Man (Macho Mix) Beethoven (I Love To Listen To) (Dance Mix) These are off the 12'' single for 'I Need A Man.' I'm sure I head these songs when they first came out (my mom was a pretty big Eurythmics fan) but I just recently rediscovered them when I picked up the single this week. These are two completely spectacular dance [...]
Eurythmics - "Sex Crime (1984)" This is just what happened when I stepped outside. This is just what I said when I opened my mouth. It's just what we did when were alone. It's just what I wrote when I saw the paper, the lines, the tip of the pencil. I hit the key, and couldn't stop. I turned the key and couldn't go back. I went blind before, while it was happening. I knew what I was doing, but even if I didn't, it would have happened. We just got up there and this is what came out. We [...]

When I walked into the Dalston Oxfam Shop on Sunday, sitting on the lip of the tape bin was a much sought after cassette compilation given out free with the NME in 1983, and it's in excellent condition. It's almost like someone left it there for me ;) Some really good tracks on here. I had never heard the Frank Chickens track Shellfish Bamboo, and the Pussy X and Associates tracks are also very good. Plus, The New Black Montana track is a good poppy african number - unfortunately no info exists about them on the Internet. The [...]
Nothing incredibly bizarre or rare today, just some nice tunes. I got some more soundtracks I'll be posting later in the week, including one to a movie that I can't even locate on the IMDB! I've never found a movie that wasn't on the IMDB before - do I get a cookie for that? Billy Idol - Flesh For Fantasy (Below The Belt Mix) Random 80s remix #1. Eurythmics - Would I Lie To You (An Eric 'ET' Thorngren Mix) Random 80s [...]

Drivetime Last year I watched the Top Gear survey to find out the best driving songs of all time.Well, 'disappointed' was one way of describing my reaction to the results, 'abject misery' is another way. And I suppose a third way is to say that I was resigned to the fact that the majority of the listening public have what can only be described as 'modest' ambitions to broaden their tastes. The eventual selection (not that I can remember the exact detail) was a cliche ridden list that [...]
given that the commercialization of christmas seemingly starts just after labor day these days, there is just too much time for the idea of a christmas mix to not become a tired, worn-out cliche. as such, i swore i would not partake in the festivities this year. bah. humbug. however, given that this is my first holiday season with sand is overrated , i felt i would be remiss if i failed to post my one favorite christmas song, "winter wonderland." as best i can recall, the first album that i ever bought* was the first volume [...]
I have this lovely 8 GB mp3 player that I usually keep filled to its capacity. Yet, somehow, I always tend to find a handful of songs that I just play over and over and over and it makes me wonder if I just shouldn't go back to mix cds. Anyway, these are the songs that seem to have kept me sane while driving the past couple of weeks. This is the most RANDOM mix and no song really has anything to do with another. Eurythmics - Paint a Rumour Scala & [...]

talking of film music (which i was a little while ago, if only to myself), here are a couple more film score treats, from the deeply unfashionable eurythmics and the slightly more hip angelo badalementi . be grateful i'm not forcing you to listen to top gun or dirty dancing . ::: eurythmics - winston's diary (from the soundtrack to 1984 ) ::: [...]
