We apoligize for not treating Thursday the right way, and there was no way we were going to wait a whole week to share some classics. Below are some of my favorite tracks from the 902s. Enjoy your Throwback Thrusday...on Friday. Nana Na Na Nanana... Will Smith - Gettin Jiggy With It Depressing song, but still a classic. Everclear - Father Of Mine [...]

Platinum-selling alt-rockers Everclear are releasing RETURN TO SANTA MONICA on September 27, 2011. The band revisits their old musical stomping grounds with all-new recordings of their greatest hits and personal favorites. Everclear formed in Portland in 1992, but didn't find mainstream success until the single "Santa Monica" (off 1995's SPARKLE AND FADE) hit the radio waves. 1997's SO MUCH FOR THE AFTERGLOW included "I Will Buy You A New Life" and "Everything To Everyone." "Wonderful," one of Everclear's most successful singles, came [...]
I don't go out as often lately but the last time I hit up Rev it was grrreat! My friend was djing and she even played some Benny Benassi and Chris Brown, to which she commented "he beat up Rihanna but we won't think about that" because it's a pretty great song. We danced on broken glass and then cut ourselves trying to pry all of the glass from our damaged shoes. But when good music is playing and people are dancing and smiling and, let's face it, intoxicated it makes for a good romp out. I'm probably not [...]

![[Beale Street Music Festival 2011] A Preview / My Recommendations](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3399686_lg.jpg)
The annual Memphis in May Festival has grown considerably over the last 35 years, and no portion of it moreso than the Beale Street Music Festival . One of the longest-running music festivals in the U.S., Beale Street Music Festival had it's humble beginnings right down on Beale Street in 1976 & has grown consistently every year since. Boasting a lineup which has been described by nearly everyone I've talked to as "The best variety of performers Beale Street Music Festival has ever had", the 35th annual festival lands at [...]

Everclear : AM Radio [ purchase ] This 2000 ode to the glories of AM radio (back when it actually featured music you wanted to hear) starts with a radio announcer from LA station KHJ, followed by the intro to Jean Knight's Mr. Big Stuff . There's a bonus TV laugh track in the middle, too. If you're as old as Everclear vocalist Art Alexakis (and me), you'll get the lyrics to this song right away. I'd be in bed [...]

If there's ever a time of year when the advertising industry doesn't let up, it's Christmas time. Mad Men 's Don Draper would proudly boast that Christmas is merely a feeling and lie that he and his cohorts created to sell cola, cookies, and coffee. In actuality, this is slightly true. Commercials create the sensation of feeling warm, fuzzy, and personally complete by making every product seem like it will bring joy to your family during the holiday season. However, it also points out what children should start begging their parents to buy them. This usually all starts the [...]

Everclear - Nervous And Weird (Live) Everclear first tasted true fame and the fortune that came with record sales in the mid-1990s by convincing waves of disaffected teenagers it would be romantic to swim out past the breakers and watch the world die. But in 1993, Art Alexakis wasn't there yet. "Nervous and Weird" finds band's lead singer having kicked heroin and departed San Francisco for Portland, Oregon. He's broke, married, and trying to support an infant daughter. He's paranoid, scared, and lonely. He's struggling to take control after a life spent [...]

I am Geoff. SomaCow Media pays me to write about stuff here, and I choose to make use of that time telling you about my misadventures. Mainly, the misadventures of going from a 420 lb smoking, overeating, complete sedentary pompous ass to whatever kind of pompous ass I am becoming. I suppose my goal is to ask myself, and often, do I want to live, or moreso to the point, "Do You Want To Die?" I cannot stand the word teetotaler. If you look up the etymology of the word, it has a bunch of goofy [...]

Photos by Youtell Concerts Everclear is a popular alt rock band from the 1990s that was 'totally edgy' because they sang about divorce, and being a societal misfit. I think they 'totally rocked' and used to sing about doing heroin, but then they got 'MTV famous', became cool dads , and eventually started singing boring ass songs about the American Family. Sorta like what would have happened to Nirvana if Kurt Cobain had stayed alive. Is Everclear the original Best Coast ? [via 1990s [...]

Everclear -Amphetamine I should have quit when I wasn't so far behind. [Buy So Much For The Afterglow and listen to it pretty consistently in your middle school years so when you play it later on in life it will be drenched in enough nostalgia to drown your inhibitions toward rocking out alone in your car.]
Filed under: The Hit List It stands to reason that several big-name film directors, such as David Fincher , Spike Jonze and Gus Van Sant cut their teeth making music videos. What may be less evident is that plenty of small- and big-screen actors started out their careers in videos, too. Whether affording a brief cameo or a full-on starring role, [...]

Why was the plug really pulled on HARD L.A. this weekend? The Times' initial blog post cited security reasons, possibly stemming from the public outcry over the death of a 15-year-old festival-goer at the recent Electric Daisy Carnival. The updated post has promoter Gary Richards declining to comment when point-blanked on whether slow ticket sales were behind the cancellation. And Flying Lotus tells the LA Weekly blog that he heard "it was about ticket sales." Those poor M.I.A. fans. ☛ Tickets go on sale Friday [...]

Daar gaan we [...]
No seriously. While Art Alexakis and crew should have made themselves just as scarce as James Mercer and Danger Mouse do in their new and current and equally Christina Hendricks-infused music video for Broken Bells ' "Ghost Inside", they did bring a shitload of hooks. "One Hit Wonder" caught Everclear just before they veered into cornball territory forever, but melatonin it is not. These guys are influential! Also, look at that belly shirt on Joan Holloway. Fashion forward!
