I grossly underestimated the number of 30-somethings who work hard but party harder and who really, really like their mid-90s alt-radio-rock. This underestimation caused me to miss Marcy Playground's entire set as I stood in line with my 30-something cousin who was attending only his second ever concert. The group of bands that held court on Total Request Live around the turn of this century have, for the most part, faded out of the limelight or broken up (in some cases, with the members breaking up, embarking on splintered side projects and realizing quickly that the whole was far greater than the sum of the parts). A week ago it was the early '90s hair metal festival ( America Rocks ) at the Alrosa. This week it's the mid-90s alt-radio rock festival ( Summerland Tour ) at the LC (outdoors).
