Today I'll start (again) by pointing you to some other excellent blogs out there. People have started posting christmas compilations now, and there are especially two I think you definitely should download. Polaroid , a french blog, posted a very nice one recently. It features bands we like a lot, like Stars in Coma, Indurain and My Awesome Mixtape + a couple of great songs from some bands I haven't heard much of before. Especially the Stars in Coma track is fantastic. The Polaroid compilation "A Polaroid for Christmas" can be found [...]

Uh, wow. That's a fucking assload of Barry White you've got there. Yep. That's pretty much the full Barry White discography ... minus the "Just For You" extended mixes that you really don't need anyway, and some of the Love Unlimited Orchestra stuff. It even includes the later suck-fests like "The Icon Is Love." Oh, and at the bottom is the soundtrack to "Together Brothers" that most people forget that Barry did. Yeah, that dex is a wow. [...]

Come closer and see Yes a return to familiar territory today as we revisit The Cure . When The Cure released their last album for Fiction Records it was decided that this was to be a greatest hits effort. Robert Smith decided that this was asking perhaps a little too much of the diehard fans, and so the first pressings of the CD came with a bonus disc full of acoustic versions of many of the tracks. Some of these songs are not particularly great, [...]

Come on, think a little harder. Tracey was the lead singer of.... ok, time's up. The answer was EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL! While some of you may only remember EBTG for their massive single 'Missing' back in the late 90's, they've actually produced some of the best electronic albums of all time throughout the course of their career. Well, news has been slowly spreading that Tracey is releasing her highly-anticipated new album in March via Astralwerks and I couldn't be more excited. Her last solo album was released all the [...]

Tracey Thorn is currently working on a debut solo album , covering the Pet Shop Boys and having some space from Ben: "After years of making records with Ben, it just seemed time to take a break, and do something fresh... I've got together with a few different producers/collaborators, and we've come up with a record that (I hope) is a true reflection of who I am right now and what I love right now." She's listing these as her influences: Nicos Chelsea Girls, the Au Pairs [...]
Sometimes I have so many ideas that I can't keep up with them. Like, remember when I promised to re-up any song links that you asked me to? Well, I did get a request for " Music for a Sunday Morning ," which I promptly ignored! So consider it done. They'll only be good for a week, though, so act more quickly than I did, OK? I'm sort of holding my breath here, waiting to find out what the next contrast podcast theme will be. [...]

One of these Bruces is not like the other. In fact, two of them aren't. In honor of Brooooooose and for no particular reason here are some covers and then the real mccoy singing with his buddies. Enjoy. Mr. State Trooper-Arcade Fire My Hometown-Everything But the Girl [...]
One of my favourite things about 90's music was the various groups putting acoustic bass together with breakbeat drum rhythms, often played on real drums. Synth, turntable, drum machine and other electronic effects were often thrown in for good measure and great effect. The first group out of the the traps with that sound were Red Snapper . The three guys played together over 8 years and four albums before imploding after their last release in 02. Alas. Their main releases are on Sheffield-based Warp records, and are purchasable from the link given. I've somehow lost my [...]

Realizations, made clear after a visit with the Therapist: I need to reconcile that I got what I wanted. Note to Self: Quit complaining that your ice cream is cold, muthafucka. For someone who hates self-invented drama, I've certainly invited plenty of it into my life. Giving that up doesn't make me boring-it gets me closer to being healthy. I'm not sure if I should be pissed or relieved that my Therapist wasn't confident in my ability to remain alcohol-free while popping pills, so [...]
