The lineup for the annual Soundset 2012 has been announced. Atmosphere, Lupe Fiasco, and Ghostface Killah & Raekwon lead the list of artists performing on Sunday, May 27th, 2012 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN. Let me tell you right now, my heart dropped when I saw this lineup; it is utterly fantastic. I went to the initial reincarnation of Soundset in 2008, and it's one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Illmaculate leaks a new track after his extended tour (Europe & Australia), "Rapper of the Year" produced by Chase Moore & Hippie Sabotage. Track taken off Illmaculate's upcoming Skrill Talk LP dropping April 17th 2012 and featuring Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Crooked I, Evidence, INS Deck + more.

Jonah Bromwich moves on to the year 3000. The knock on Gangrene is fair: the beats are mostly more interesting than the raps. The easy fix is Evidence, the slow-flow professional, who adds his pedigree to a beat which echoes the dank inter-workings of a futuristic factory - the slow-clanging and gurgles suggesting the mechanical movements that murderers move with. Evidence is in his element here. His sharp pronunciations rings out above the clamor, clearing the way for humanity amidst the dusty and dirty sounds - as though Pigpen [...]

Carlos Giffoni – "Evidence" Venezuelan artist Carlos Giffoni has a new 12", Evidence , coming out 2/14 via Software (Joel Ford and Daniel Lopatin's label), and showcases some of his most accessible work yet. The self-titled track showcases beautiful piano work played by Laurel Halo, and then evolves into a crazy synth riff that one wouldn't expect from a tenured noise artist (see: The Endless Mirror ). It's gorgeous work.

"Lord Steppington, stepping in like George Jefferson." Gangrene handed out a new single today from their recently released LP, Vodka & Ayahuasca . The new joint is "Dark Shades", a care-free posse cut featuring Evidence and Roc Marciano. It's chock full of references to Rick Ross, George Jefferson, Blade, Mic Jagger, and even swagger jacking. In the January issue of my monthly column for Electronic Beats (not yet published, don't blame me), I've predicted that 2012 will be dominated by RVNG Intl , but if Software continues in this manner, maybe I'm gonna have to correct myself in a few weeks. What I've heard so far from the forthcoming Megafortress release is among the most painstakingly beautiful I've come across in recent months, and Slava 's footwork-induced house anthem "I've Got Feelings Too" (see below) is frickin' excellent. Gangrene dropped Vodka & Ayahuasca this past Tuesday, and boy is it gully. Giving you one more reason to cop the full-length, Alchemist and Oh No liberate "Dark Shades", which is accompanied with rhymes from Evidence and Roc C. Evidence 's Cats & Dogs was perhaps one of the most criminally underlooked records of 2011, alongside personal favorite Phonte 's Charity Starts At Home . I guess I'm not incredibly surprised as the steadfast Rhymesayer's rapper is usually fairly reserved in terms of getting his music out there to his loyal and extremely tightly-knit fanbase. The hip-hop purist/producer/MC recently unleashed a new set of respectfully dark, brooding visuals for "Falling Down" directed by Todd Angkasuwan. You can check it out below.
