Antigone Anagnostellis is one of our loyal Purple Sneakers contributors. Always on top of what's happening in our music world, she's a dedicated member to Australia's music scene. She's interviewed some pretty big names for us in the past, such as Yolanda Be Cool , The Vaccines , Oh Mercy , Northeast Party House and it-boy Flume . But who is she actually listening to at the moment? We thought we'd find out by grabbing her top ten Soundcloud tracks! After you Antigone! "New ta-ku" [...]

Bleached, Ex Cops and Week of Wonders at Chop Suey, Seattle | 1 May 2013 After that last Best Coast album, you probably thought the SoCal girl group beach thing was played out. I did, but then along come former Mika Miko sisters Jessie and Jennifer Calvin with their new band Bleached . Just to get past your initial eye-roll they need to be pretty good. They would have be a little different and bring something new to [...]
Bleached blew the doors off at the Blank Club, and luckily they weren't DeLorean doors, because then people would have gotten decked for real, rather than that fake decking Floyd Mayweather gave Robert Guerrero earlier that evening. There's more sports highlights herein. Buckle up. (It's times like this I'm glad Spinning Platters has an editor. Mixtape: Fifteen Highlights from South by Southwest 2013 (Podcast #302) As discussed earlier today , we saw a ton of great bands at South by Southwest 2013 . Here are fifteen SXSW discoveries from a number of genres. As you'll see, the first half of the mix (Side A, if you will) includes some of our favorite rock, punk and psych highlights from SXSW. Jennifer and Jessie Clavin are two sisters from sunny Southern California who make melodic rock and roll and sing about things they actually care about. Formerly of Los Angeles band Mika Miko, Jennifer and Jessie started Bleached after moving back to their hometown deep in the San Fernando Valley. They've since taken on a 702s punk esthetic that paints a picture of vintage surf culture and rebellious riot girls. After the success of their first three singles, the girls are set to release "Ride Your Heart" on April 2 via Dead Oceans. In support of their [...]

In total, I managed upwards 40 artists across the 4 day span but below are a few of 'em that cut through the noise of it all and capitalized at the capitol. Music Hanni El Khatib totally scorched the scene with some rippin' licks and straight ahead rock 'n roll. [...]
